The New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Trailer Kinda Sucks

Everyone begged for the Turtles from your childhood and judging from the new trailer, they got what they wanted and now it kinda sucks.

I actually enjoyed 2014's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.  It was obvious Nickelodeon marketed the movie to a younger generation.  Unfortunately, two-year-olds don't get to vote on rotten tomatoes.  The film sits a 21% critic's score on rottentomatoes.com -- I used to get whoopings for bringing grades like that home from elementary school.

As a father of three, I woke up this morning to the smell of dirty diapers, but surprisingly, the stinkiest smell that hit my nostrils derived from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows Trailer.  "Fans" (the adult kind) begged the studio for the turtles they remembered from their childhood and sadly, they got what they wanted.  In 2016, we will be getting a 1990s blockbuster.

Don't get me wrong, I loved mohawks and rollerblades when I was six years old, the only problem is, it's 25 years later and my three year old son will not understand the reference.  The dress attire isn't even the worst part -- I could've sworn I saw Tyler Perry's Razzie Award acceptance speech fall out of his lab coat, the "It's Tricky" Run DMC music is a hint we'll probably get more 80s music than a Adam Sandler rom-com, and somebody please tell the turtles to "TAKE THE CLOTHES OFF!"

I'm not going to lie and tell you this movie was one of my most anticipated, but it's not to farfetched to believe my son and daughters were anxious to see what tricks Michael Bay (director, cough cough, I mean producer) and Nickelodeon had up their sleeves.  I guess the only trick they had was to try and please everyone except their targeted fan base.  Kids don't get a rottentomato vote and they may not be able to purchase a ticket either, but sadly, I don't even think the people who have the funds to watch this movie would give it up willingly -- hopefully you prove me wrong, but I doubt it.

Lol, you dislike that it's too close to the show? You're certainly entitled to your opinion but the reasoning doesn't make sense to me. Kids don't have to get the references. They will like it because it's silly. Adults can appreciate the references. As long as its not Batman and Robin or Green Lantern,of which the first is neither, then no worries.

I don't think kids give a shit about outdated fashion, whether they get "the reference" or not. As long as the CGI turtles are doing crazy hijinks and saying stupid stuff among the explosions they'll probably be satisfied.

I think it's with noting that as a kid, and even now, I loved the original TNMT movies. However, if sites like this existed back then (or the Internet for that matter), those movies would have been ripped apart. They didn't follow the show, the Foot was mostly New York runaways, April did not look like April (twice),and they created new characters instead of using the ones from the show like Beebop and Rocksteady. Adults on this site would have hated it per usual, but as a kid, I didn't care about the inaccuracies. They were and still are great movies.

Seems like not all people are not getting that TMNT is a children-franchise, that's something that people just have to accept.

Us old guys and our childhood memories should remove ourselves from the fun that are next generation of kids will enjoy that we enjoyed when we were kids.

If we start hacking away at everything wrong with the newest adaptation of our pop culture we will all sound like old grouchy people and saying things like back in my youth it's didn't look like that.

We should all enjoy it for what it is and attempt to have some fun with it even if it's not 100% accurate. The more you fight it the more of negative nerd your going start to look like.

Example:

And I consider myself a geek or nerd but would like to remain as much as positive as I can. Because who would have thought at this day an age our pop culture would have taken over for the whole world to enjoy.

@DAGuess Absolutely! People forget how cheesy the original TMNT films were...I loved 'em, but I know those movies have problems. Back then, the parents were the trolls. They lobbied to get the studios to change the content and make it more rated PG for the sequel...
