RUMOR MILL: THE FLASH Movie Won't Feature The Atlantean/Amazon War With Aquaman And Wonder Woman

The Flash movie is reportedly borrowing a lot from the Flashpoint comic book, but a new rumor claims there are no plans for it to include the war between Altantis's Aquaman and Themyscira's Wonder Woman!

It's been known for some time now that The Flash movie will borrow a number of story elements from the Flashpoint comic book, though one major change has already been made. That's the decision to have Barry Allen arrive in a new timeline where Michael Keaton's Bruce Wayne is still Batman (replacing the Thomas Wayne version of the vigilante from the source material).

If a new rumor shared by Heroic Hollywood is to be believed, there won't be a war between the Atlanteans and Amazons, either. That points to a very different take on this story, and potentially debunks previous reports of cameos from Jason Momoa's Aquaman and Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman.

As well as meeting a different version of Batman in the alternate timeline he creates after racing back in time to save his mother from the Reverse-Flash, the comic book Flashpoint revealed that Earth had been ravaged by a war between the two Justice League members and their respective nations.

That might have been a little too much for The Flash to include, but a lot of fans out there are sure to be disappointed that another major part of the source material will not be featured in this film. That doesn't mean we shouldn't be excited, however, and more details will hopefully be revealed soon.

No shit? Wasn’t it obvious this was just gonna be a Burtonman crossover ft. Reverse Flash at this point?

@tmp3 - Yeah, starts to look like the first ever Flash movie and it's Flashpoint storyline are going be just a vehicle to bring back one Batman from a retirement. Wouldn't be surprised if we don't even get Reverse-Flash either. Shame too, since the TV show also screwed up the Flashpoint.
Then again, CW could always do a new, more proper adaptation. Maybe as some annual crossover event.

@Odin - i doubt the cw will. That ship has sailed.

This seems more like a Trojan horse to reboot the DCEU than a solo flash movie.

@MCUKnight11 - well at least this way they get to keep Momoa, Gadot and Levi

That war would be costly to put on screen. It's cheaper to slap some rubber on an elderly Michael Keaton and market this as a Batman movie $$$

@BigMikeReviews - How would it be any more costly than what the Aquaman movie did?

@BigMikeReviews -
That war would damage the Wonder Woman and Aquaman brands. Nobody wants to see Diana gutting children or Aquaman drowning whole continents.

@BackwardGalaxy - I'm not saying it would be more costly. I just don't think WB will want to invest the same kind of money into a flash movie. But throwing Batman in there will guarantee big bucks.

Still waiting on a recast.

@MCUKnight11 - Best to just accept this won’t be a very good movie and make peace with that. An Ezra recast seems almost impossible at this point, the execs over there think they’re the new DiCaprio or something

@RageDriver2401 - the physics of that sequence is so cringe. You should never need to see The Flash moving unless you do it like Fox's Quicksilver. Too bad they got there first.

Flash movie shouldn’t even do alternate timelines.

Just have him jumping to alternate earths. It is ridiculously easier to explain in short time and has the benefit of being less done than the tired “time travel” plot.

DCEU FLASH already exists in CW Flash as does Earth - 89. Just keep it going and drop Time Travel.
