The Flash raced into theaters a little over a month ago and, as things stand, the movie will go down as the biggest flop in Warner Bros.' history.
It's fair to say that means the vast majority of people haven't watched it, but with it now available on Digital, an awful lot of fans are finally checking out the Scarlet Speedster's first solo outing...and they aren't loving those cameos.
The fact bootleg versions of the Speed Force sequence started surfacing on social media and YouTube prior to The Flash's release killed a lot of hype and contributed to its poor box office performance. Now, though, they've hit Twitter in HD and have become particularly timely amid the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
A sticking point for many actors is that studios want to use AI to essentially make use of their likenesses forevermore, and if the results are anything like The Flash's ghoulish cameos...well, you can see why that might be problematic.
As you can see below, the entire sequence is available online to watch, though Nic Cage's cameo has proven to be a major talking point among fans.
Despite the actor actually being on set, the Kick-Ass star has been transformed into a CG monstrosity who looks very out of place in a 2023 blockbuster. We can kind of see what Warner Bros. was going for, but this stylised take on the Speed Force ultimately failed to resonate.
It's unclear whether this cameo-heavy sequence was Andy Muschietti's plan from the start or an idea introduced by DC Studios and James Gunn.
The Flash is now available to purchase on Digital and can still be found in some theaters.
