Fans of original
Firestorm Ronnie Raymond were dealt a hard blow in season 2 of
The Flash, when it was revealed that the character sacrificed his life to destroy the singularity that threatened to consume Central City. Ronnie returned later in the season, though it was an evil version of the character from Earth-2 - dubbed Deathstorm - who served the central villain, Zoom. This version of Ronnie was also killed off in the same episode.
Fans of the show have held out hope that Ronnie survived the closing of the singularity, but during an interview at Heroes and Villians Fan Fest in Atlanta, Georgia, actor Robbie Amell seemingly confirmed that the Earth-1 incarnation is deceased.
"Well the nice thing is when you're dead in that universe there is always another Earth, but I think that version [Earth-1] of Ronnie is dead because he sacrificed himself to save the city, but you know there is always Earth-3, Earth-4, Earth-5..."
Amell was also asked whether he'd be open to play a Marvel character, or if he remained committed to the DC brand.
"No, I have no loyalties," Amell said. "
[DC has] killed me a couple of times, and I’ll always gladly go back. But, at the same time, I’m a huge fan of Marvel movies. I like what they’re doing. It has less to do with it being Marvel or DC and more just being a character that I’m interested in and speaks to me."
This isn't the first time a member of
The Flash cast has been quizzed about a role reprisal; Rick Cosnett also
hinted last month that we may be seeing Eddie Thawne return this season. You can still get your fix of Firestorm on
Legends of Tomorrow, where Martin Stein has paired with Ronnie's replacement, Jefferson Jackson. Do you want to see a version of Ronnie (or the original) make a return?
