Filming Of THOR: THE DARK WORLD Goes Underground

Rumour has it that Thor: The Dark World will feature the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim, so it perhaps shouldn't come as too much of a surprise that the highly anticipated sequel is now heading underground as Marvel prepares to shoot in London. Read on for details!

Bleeding Cool have apparently discovered that Thor: The Dark World will be shooting in, "some long tunnels in London [which] will be used for the filming of scenes that, as yet, we haven’t been able to confirm as taking place on Earth, on Asgard or elsewhere." They don't have an awful lot more than that in the way of new details, although it was recently revealed by stuntman James Grogan that "elves" will be featured in the sequel (more than likely the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim). They have been known to live in caves in the comic books, so this certainly makes sense. Whether or not this will be "The Dark World" that the title refers to remains unknown. As filming draws closer, we should also soon hear some casting news, especially now that Mads Mikkelsen has dropped out of the film as the main villain due to commitments to the Hannibal TV series.

STARRING:

Chris Hemsworth as Thor
Tom Hiddleston as Loki
Anthony Hopkins as Odin
Natalie Portman as Jane Foster
Zachary Levi as Fandral
Ray Stevenson as Volstagg
Tadanobu Asano as Hogun
Jaimie Alexander as Sif

RELEASE DATE: November 8th, 2013.

I really hope that they kill of Natalie some how. She's a great actress but I did not enjoy her in the first one. She needs to step it up a notch or get out of this franchise.

HelaGood
HelaGood - 7/25/2012, 11:37 AM
why does it have to be Dark Elves that are the bad guys?

why cant it mean that the Dark Elves are just in the film and nothing more...

the underground could mean HEL or Muspelheim! which means Surtur and Hela!!!!

Notice how where Widow and Drax are connect like a puzzle. Guess they had GOTG figured out already.

Hela would be sweet, im fine with dark elves though. I will be pissed if there's no Amora the Enchantress though. And save Surtur for Thor 3 , but drop some hints about him in thor2.

ksommer - 7/25/2012, 11:45 AM
@TheBeard I agree. How can Amora not be in the 2nd one? The fact that she wasn't in the first one was shocking.

Sagemode@ i hope they let Taylor take a few liberties and don't make him TOO beholden to the style of the last movie. He'll flesh out asgard amazingly.

i love that they are adding more fantasy like the comics, this could end up being one of the better Marvel movies. All this stuff is so awesome...
OdinsBeard
OdinsBeard - 7/25/2012, 12:20 PM
also Sage, nice call how they fit together like a puzzle with the banner BUT whoever made that banner had to reverse the GOTG image for it to fit like that. awesome planning on marvel's part? or just a really creative photo edit? did you make that?
OdinsBeard
OdinsBeard - 7/25/2012, 12:25 PM
nvm checked into it myself. they weren't meant to be that way - it was shopped. nice shop tho! very interesting! hopefully when they come out with official promo art it will fit in.
thunderforce

It would kind suck if it is just dark elves there needs to be a world where they can have it all like elves and dwarves and trolls and all just like lotr not just 1 movie about elves then another movie about dwarves ect .

Cant wait to see some footage, I loved the first movie. I hope this leaves the Romance alone and give us a good story and amazing action.

Agreed, but I have a feeling that this is gonna be a million times better given who's at the helm.
But yeah, they should keep Earth out of the mix as much as possible

TheDARKestKNIGHT - 7/25/2012, 1:11 PM
I agree with some of the comments above about the first one not being all that good. Hopefully this one will be more Viking-y. Not overbearingly though. A Thor movie should look like Lord of the rings with a spaceman touch
kirbyfan
kirbyfan - 7/25/2012, 1:19 PM
Thor needs to be really epic, it should be on the same level as Troy, Gladiator, Kingdome Of Heaven etc.

Take it to the next level with really awesome action sequences, and displays of Thor's Powers. The battle between Thor and the Destroyer in the first film was a major dissappointment, that fight should have been much more epic!

Thor is an opportunity to really do something mindblowing, I hope that take advantage of it!!
HelaGood
HelaGood - 7/25/2012, 1:26 PM
@kirbyfan
i agree. i think Phase One was mostly Marvel figuring out what they could get away with, how far they could push stuff... and while a lot of it was not ground-breaking, our reaction to what they did do was encouraging to them.

so hopefully Phase Two they will take it to the next level and push the envelope.

Rumour's got it all wrong though.

I've said it before and only HelaGood seemed to notice, so I'll say it again.

Niflheim is literally translated as 'mist home', but Nifl is derived from the old English 'Nifol' meaning 'Dark'...

Niflheim is also one of the two primordial realms - the other being Muspelheim...

Dunno, maybe it's me that's wrong and it is all about dark elves. Still, my money's staying on my theory at the moment. Underground - Hel? Works for me.

Talontd - 7/25/2012, 2:01 PM
^^^Seems kinda thin, especially when we KNOW there are Elves in the movie...

Only time will tell tho...
valeriesghost
valeriesghost - 7/25/2012, 2:01 PM
IMHO Thor is the worse outing Marvel has done yet. The number 1 mistake for me is having a desert setting instead of a Sea or wooded setting. SHooting the exact same script in the Pacific northwest as apposed the the desert would have made a world of difference.
thetrojan
thetrojan - 7/25/2012, 2:04 PM
I hope it begins with him finding her and saying hey woman, and then odin appears and says ,"NO!"
Thou mustest go with the Sif and no other, thy powerful love force will destroy this frail female beast and thou art a god ,odinson.
So ,STOP IT!"
And then we can get on with the movie.
