Has Joseph Gatt’s Role in Thor Been Surmised?

With a little reasoning, and a sometimes untrustworthy source (IMDB), actor Joseph Gatt's role in Marvel’s THOR movie may have been revealed. Hear me out and see what YOU think.

The name Joseph Gatt made headlines everywhere when it was revealed that he had been cast into an undisclosed role for the upcoming Thor movie. And Back in January, Gatt revealed a few specs to his role with Screenrant, summed up:

* He’s a villain

* Action-oriented role

* Gives Thor lots of trouble

* Has scenes with Loki

* Has sweet weapons

* Is an Asgardian warrior

After that many speculated that Joseph Gatt would be portraying “Skurge the Executioner“(pictured above). And not to mention, he looks like the character. BUT While this is still possible, another potential role fitting his look, and his character’s description is out there. The sometimes untrustworthy, IMDB, has listed the actor to be “Grundroth”(pictured below alongside actor)

In the Thor comics, Grundroth was the leader of a group of frost giants, which has been confirmed to appear in the movie. In a specific issue, it included some events that could easily be included in the movie as well.

These Giants, led by Grundroth, attempted to kill Loki, who was saved through the intervention of the thunder god Thor. In retaliation, Grundroth led the others to Earth where they contacted Jormungand, the Midgard Serpent and induce him to battle their enemy Thor for them. Thor slew the Serpent in a tremendous battle in which the Asgardian himself was reduced to a mass of pulped flesh, which was still alive due to a curse put on Thor by the goddess Hela that made him incapable of dying. Grundroth planned to take Thor's body back to Jotunheim and claim rulership of the Frost Giants as his reward for besting the thunder god. Loki then tricked one of Grundroth's Giants, Siggorth, into infusing his life force into the virtually invincible Destroyer, which then slew Grundroth and the rest of the Giant band.

With the Executioner still being possible, I think "Grundroth" will be Joseph Gatt's role indeed, simply because the executioner is famous character, and with all the other characters & things promised for the movie, he wouldn't have much screen time to do all the things he says his character does. But what do you think?

I believe this entire article is off, mainly for one reason..

Thor getting beaten up into a pulp, and then infused into The Destroyer would not translate well into film, especially with this being the first Thor movie.

I just can't see the idea of Thor being turned into an inside-out terminator happening at all..in any Thor movie..ever.

Why cast a dude that's unknown, more or less, for a secret role? The only reason for that, is if the role is kind of a big deal and still, only the tumbleweeds would care.

@ Hanzogamer: That is just an excerpt taken out of the Thor comics to explain the character Grundroth. I'm pretty sure if one of the giants are involved and if its Grundroth indeed...I think they won't use that part of the excerpt in the script. Especially Thor being fused with the destroyer armor.

IMDB is really a untrustworthy source

we just have to wait and see what Joseph Gatt say about his role

Josh@ Balder is probably being played by someone
special that they don't want to tell us about
right now. But Who knows?

I thought Gatt was playing Skurge!@ But he very well
could be playing a Frost Giant! I sure wish we could
hear it directly from the horse's mouth!

I don't think he's THE WATCHER! They said he was
playing an Asgard warrior!

All I know is Thor is gonna rock like a Midgard-
quake! lol
I'm sure of it!

if he is not the absorbing man then in the avengers loki should send absorbing man his powers,and wintersoldier should show up,as well as leader,abomination,and ultron, giving each hero their owen villians in the film. i also think that the avengers should be a long film or two film back to back.

I was also hoping for the Absorbing Man. He's one of my all-time favorite villains and certainly has history with Thor. I'm glad to see others who want to see him appear.

A Frost Giant would also be cool, though. I'd rather wait for Absorbing Man if it would mean more screen time for him. I'd love to see him absorb the power of the hammer onscreen. That was a great moment in the comics!
