Idris Elba On Potentially Playing Luke Cage; Offers Updates On PROMETHEUS AND THOR 2

In a series of video interviews, the Golden Globe winning actor (Luther) discusses his favourite type of superheroes (specifically Luke Cage and the chances of playing him in future), working with Ridley Scott on Prometheus and his roles in Pacific Rim and Thor 2.

The British actor (best known for his fantastic performances in The Wire, Luther and Thor) sat down with MTV News to discuss his role in Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance and also offered some very interesting updates on what else he has planned for the future. In the first video, he discusses the kinds of superheroes that appeal to him, once again expressing interest in playing Luke Cage in a solo and revealing that he currently knows very little about what role Heimdall will have in Thor 2. The next two see him discuss Prometheus and Pacific Rim as well as the chances of a Luther movie.

Just to clear up, my comment was a JOKE. I think Idris is an amazing actor and does an amazing job as Heimdall in Thor and John Luther in Luther, a BBC drama series. I think he'd be a good Luke Cage but I think Tyrese Gibson would be better, since he's already American.

I think Idris would make a good Bond, and put a new spin on the series...

Amazing actor.. The Wire is favorite television series of all time.. He'd be excellent as Luke Cage or even Black Panther, however, considering he already currently is portraying Heimdell I dong think they should cast him if the story takes place in the MCU.. They should just expand his role in the Thor movies, from what I remember he was somewhat of a powerful character (Heimdell).. He started saying how much he liked Batman and then he realized he was there to promote Ghost Rider and he caught himself lol..

Haven t seen Luther they have on bbc america. Is it any good?

I love ELBA, but i dont like him for CAGE or the PANTHER.....in fact, i'd rather see him as JAMES BOND than either of those characters!!!!

Crossing between DC and Marvel is one thing, but to be in Thor, Ghost Rider and then be Luke Cage is a bit much. I can handle Human Torch and Captain America being the same person, but to be 3 different Marvel Comics character is excessive. Find another genre and stick with that for a while. If he really wanted to be Power Man he wouldn't have accepted Thor and Ghost Rider. A hardcore American actor would be more fitted for the role.
