Liam Hemsworth On Competing With His Brother For The Title Role In Thor!

In an interview with MTV News, Liam Hemsworth was quizzed about what it was like competing and auditioning for the same role alongside his own brother. As we all know, Chris ended up landing the part in Kenneth Branagh's Thor and 2012 epic, The Avengers and here's how the younger sibling felt about that.

"At the time, I remember we both read for it, and I got flown over to do a screen test for it. I got flown for a screen test and he didn't and then, I mean, I didn't get it, but he got called back."

The actor also went on to say that he could one day play a superhero as well.

"Who knows what's going to happen?"

What do you guys think? Did Marvel Studios make the right decision cast Liam's older brother? I sure think so, but be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place! Thor is set to be released in 3D on May 6, later this year!

Maybe he should rethink that. DiCaprio said that takin' on a superhero role early in your career is not a wise move if you wish to keep your career. Look at most of the other celebrities who have taken on a superhero role and end up vanishin' after. Although I don't like the idea, it's definitely present. Hollywood still doesn't take superhero flicks serious enough. Liam needs to take on a different approach.

Who has vanished recently? Christian Bale, Robert Downey Jr, and Hugh Jackman all seem to be doing well.

I could see him playing BETA RAY BILL. That would be an interesting dynamic.

They definitely made the right choice by going with Chris...wouldnt mind seeing him pick up a role in a Marvel Studios movie at some point though. AlexDeLarge666's suggestion of Balder is pretty fitting.

Chris was obviously the better choice, Thor wouldnt look tough if he was some kid fresh out of high school.

I haven't seen any of his work, but based on him making that god-awful film with Miley Cyrus, I have a feeling he's not in the same caliber as his brother.

I really don't care what happens to him, so long as he doesn't ruin a good comic book character.

@Crestfallen - Tobey McGuire, Brandon Routh, kinda Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, everyone else from the X-Men franchise besides the obvious.. If looks apparent that if you're in the early stages of your film career, bein' locked own in a superhero flick hinders you of advancement. Bale, Downey and a few others got lucky -- they were, after all, established prior to their comic book roles. I'm just sayin', though... lol.
