SEGA Reps Talk 'THOR: The Video Game!'

In an excerpt from brief Q&A with the guys at SEGA, they discuss Marvel's Thor: The Video Game, on the graphics, the teaser, how soon til promotion starts, and if the movie's production crew have any say. Check it Out!

How soon did Sega begin production of the game? Was there anything that the Thor production crew for the film did to help you guys along?
"Main production on the game began in 2009 and we have been working closely with Marvel since even before that time. We were also able to visit the movie sets, read the scripts and have access to lots of movie assets, all of which helped in developing the game."

In the video game teaser you shown at Comic-Con, is that footage like a little real gameplay of thor standing on the mountain and not a cinematic because, if that is real gameplay of the 360/PS3 version it looks too cool?
"That is actual gameplay. We just rotated the camera around him to give a better view of the vista."

Will you do an Iron Man 3 video game? Because you're signed on for that at all since Disney took over and such?
"There are no current plans to make an Iron Man 3 game at this time. It's challenging enough trying to get Thor and Captain America done. Let's focus on those first."

Is that epic music from the Thor videogame site included in the 360/PS3 version of the game? It's brilliant and fits the character perfectly!
"Yes, that is music from the game. We're actually really proud of the game's soundtrack and we're looking forward to people hearing more from it soon. It feels so epic and does fit the Thor character perfectly. Now it's going to be nice to take a vacation before Thor starts to heat up Starting soon, there is going to be an onslaught of info and screenshots."

If you haven't already seen the teaser, check it out HERE. And expect promotion for the Mighty Avenger's much-anticipated movie to jumpstart within the coming weeks, hitting theaters May 6, 2011 in 3D.

Special thanks to my buddy RealIronMan for this find.

If it's anywhere near as bad as Iron Man 2, I'll pass. I bought that for only £5.99 and still regretted it...it was like playing a [frick]ing PS2 game! Nice find DCMF! :)

For the record, there are numerous decent to good comic book games. X-men Origins: Wolverine was fantastic, I also enjoyed the MUA games, not to mention the new Spiderman - Shattered Dimension, it was good, not great.

@Shaman

Castlevania Lords of Shadow was awesome!!! Best title since Symphony of the Night! --- Great Avatar!

you know, I had a great long talk with the Marvel video game rep guy (didn't get his name) at Comic Con this year. and he said all the right things about Thor...and the long development cycle, etc... but geez, after the huge letdown that was Iron Man 2? this is a rental first. sad to say but gotta go by the track record...........still, it all SOUNDS like the right direction. but then again, so did IM2

SFCamerica- Oh yes, Wolverine Origins is defintiely one of the greats! Haven't bought it yet. Still waiting til it hits the bargin bins. Castlevania was definitely the best since SOTN and even more so IMHO!!! There is just so many things they got right with this that i can't wait till they make the sequel!!! FINALY, Castlevania is back to being considered one of the best games available :))

As for Spidey's latest though, they aren't getting my money. What they did was make four great games and only put a sample of each of them together to make the game they gave us. And on top of that, no free-roam. What a let down. Glad i didn't buy it!

I hope Thor is that good! Prove me wrong about you, SEGA!

unfortunately this will be just as bad as every other movie game...

there's a reason movie games suck, its because the creators have a limited time to make them, and its impossible to make a quality game with such a short timeframe. don't waste your money on this crap.

even the wolverine origins game (considered the best movie game) was far behind normal games, and was still full of glitches.

CDB- Yeah, that's a good point.

Mass- HA! Nope, not there yet. Still in Lycan land LOL I'm telling you, i'll be a long time before i finish it. I hardly ever have time to play ;)

Now can you guys picture a film adaptation of the latest Castlevania game, starring Hugh Jackman as Gabriel Belmont?!?!?! EPIC!!!!! :))

Shaman, Have you beaten LoS!?!? I'm waiting to hear what you thought of the ending and such.

The game for the Wolverine movie was GREAT, better than the film actually, and if Akham Asylum and the upcoming Akham City are any indication of the new standard then this game could be epic from what I've seen.

Yeah, don't think I'll be falling for the hype some how. I almost fell for it for Iron Man 2, when earlier it had been repeatedly said that they were actually making an effort for the game this time. HA.

Games are not films, find out if they're good before you buy.

@TheMyth I doubt the Arkham Asylum team will be involved in Thor. Besides, Movie tie ins are just an extra money spin. No effort or standards are included.

superotherside - 11/24/2010, 3:50 PM
i still think they'll probably make him too weak in this game... as they did in MUA and MUA2, but oh well, still i hope it's got a good story... at the least...
maverickaim9
maverickaim9 - 11/24/2010, 5:44 PM
My only question in this movie is, are we gonna see thunder raining down on people's asses? I better see everyone getting zapped in the ass, I don't want a bore-fest, like Iron man 2.
TheMyth
TheMyth - 11/24/2010, 7:01 PM
SoulAllFlush, It isn't the same team, I was just remarking on how well done those games are, or are appearing to be in the case of Arkham City, and how the standard they've set (In Arkham Asylum's case how fantastic a game based on a comic character can truly be, in Wolverine's case a great example of a CBM based game gone right) easily demonstrates it's worth the time and effort to ACTUALLY get these games right instead of trying to make a quick merchandising dollar.

MassExecutions- Hey bud, a buddy of mine is having a hard time finding the way to break down the stone brick wall before getting to the vamps, in the snow. I'd love to help him out but i'm just not there yet. Could you let us know how to do it? ;)

TheMyth- Hey dude! Naw, i must be far away from finishing it. But as soon as i do, i'll sure as hell let you know on here :))
