Marvel Studios shared a thunderous new trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder last night, and it definitely didn't disappoint. It may sound like hyperbole, but it feels like this blockbuster is shaping up to be 2022's best comic book movie, and we cannot wait to be blown away by the sequel.
With no plot spoilers or major rumours doing the rounds, we'll be heading into the Thor: Ragnarok follow-up with fresh eyes - a relief after all those big Eternals and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness leaks.
Of course, that also means we get to take a closer look at footage like this to try and figure out what's going on and where this story is headed. In this feature, you'll find all of the biggest moments and reveals in the latest Thor: Love and Thunder sneak peek, from possible plot points to exciting new MCU locations and even hints about where this world will take us next.

7. Mjolnir Serves A New Master
In the comic books, Thor is deemed unworthy and left unable to wield Mjolnir. That opens the door to Jane Foster taking his place after the hammer - revealed to have its own mind - telepathically sought her out to be its new wielder. Something similar clearly happens in the MCU, though the weapon is somehow reformed and seemingly still answers to Thor...before returning to Jane, of course.
Whether Mjolnir will ultimately return to the Odinson is hard to say, but becoming the Mighty Thor took its toll on Jane's health and actually sped up the cancer that was killing her human form. We're not sure how much room there will be to explore that in Thor: Love and Thunder, but certainly hope this isn't a one-and-done appearance for the hero as she should be a fixture of the MCU from now on.
6. He Finally Has A Helmet!
Some of you might be too young to remember this, but much was said about Thor not wearing his helmet when his first movie was released back in 2011. It became something of a sticking point for fans, particularly as the God of Thunder's comic book counterpart frequently heads into battle wearing one. This time, however, it looks like Marvel is finally embracing the hero's helmeted look.
We can understand not wanting to cover Chris Hemsworth's handsome face, but this is a welcome sight. It's also worth noting that the moment Thor seemingly realises that Jane is the Mighty Thor takes place a little later than when Mjolnir refuses to come to him. We're guessing he has to power up during this battle with Gorr the God Butcher's minions to save New Asgard when it comes under attack.
5. A Long-Awaited Reunion
Patty Jenkins was originally tapped to direct Thor: The Dark World, but clashed with Marvel Studios and departed the sequel. This reportedly left Natalie Portman extremely unhappy, hence why she then vanished from the MCU. Avengers: Age of Ultron established that Thor and Jane had parted ways, and we didn't really hear anything more about the scientist until Avengers: Endgame.
The God of Thunder's trip back in time seemingly reminded Thor of his feelings for Jane, and this trailer suggests they'll be picking up where they left off. It's quickly established that they haven't seen each other for a long time, but in the midst of this battle with Gorr the God Butcher, we have a feeling the Odinson and Jane will find a way to finally get their happy ending...we hope so, anyway!
4. Gorr The God Butcher's Mission
Christian Bale's Gorr the God Butcher might not look quite as alien as his comic book counterpart, but we're not going to complain about the MCU's take on the villain. He looks nothing short of terrifying and is more akin to a horror movie antagonist than your typical superhero baddies, but regardless of appearance, his mission remains the same: Gorr wants to kill every God across the cosmos.
If you're wondering what makes him so powerful, it's looking like he's making use of the Necrosword that made Hela so formidable in Thor: Ragnarok. We get the impression that at least one battle will take place in black and white, a unique visual choice that could see more colour inserted into the sequence as our heroes near victory. Either way, we cannot wait to see Gorr when he's unleashed.
3. New Powers
Jane Foster isn't just a female Thor. The comic books wasted no time in explaining that her unique connection to Mjolnir gave her access to abilities the Odinson never dreamed of, and that's evident from this fight scene. The scientist has clearly found some clever new ways to unleash the hammer's powers, including taking down enemies with what appear to be hailstones she's conjured up.
Time will tell what other powers Jane is able to tap into, but she's not lacking in confidence and is clearly going to teach even Thor a few new tricks over the course of Thor: Love and Thunder. Heck, considering we see Jane in a chamber surrounded by statues of some of the MCU's most powerful cosmic beings, we're pretty sure her arc will be an incredibly important one.
2. Welcome To Olympus
We were pretty sure this would be the case after watching the first trailer, but it's clear now that Thor: Love and Thunder is taking us to Olympus. A small "pocket" dimension adjacent to Earth and accessible via an interdimensional nexus located somewhere on Mount Olympus in Greece, this is home to Zeus and his fellow Gods, including Hercules, a character who eventually joins The Avengers.
Whether that will be the case in the MCU remains to be seen, but it looks like Thor, the Mighty Thor, Valkyrie, and Korg all head there to seek help from Zeus. He clearly doesn't take much of a liking to his guests, though, leading to the trailer's money shot...and a good way to finally convince your wife or girlfriend to go see this movie (assuming they're not a fan of the MCU, of course).
1. Thor's New Tattoo
Okay, so we need to take a closer look at this scene. No, not for that reason! As impressed as we are by Chris Hemsworth's unbelievable physique, it's what we can see on his back here we're most interested in. During his adventures, it appears the God of Thunder has gained some tattoos, including one of Loki's helmet that is clearly paying homage to his brother following his demise.
That came in Avengers: Infinity War when the God of Mischief was murdered by Thanos. Since then, Loki has been resurrected, with his 2012 "Variant" now on the loose...and trapped in another reality. Common sense says we won't see the brothers reunite here, though we wouldn't be surprised if there's a post-credits scene teasing Loki season 2 seeing as it starts shooting soon.
