Very little has been revealed about Thor: Love and Thunder up until this point, but a new piece of artwork provides a fresh glimpse of Chris Hemsworth's new-look Asgardian in the Marvel Studios movie.
Director Taika Waititi was clearly inspired by the Eric Masterson "Thunderstrike" version of Thor, though there's a real '80s feel to this take on the God of Thunder as well. The hero appears to have gotten a tattoo of the Nine Realms on his chest, an interesting decision if that's part of this story.
It is, however, possible that the artist who created this for the crew was just taking some liberties with what ends up on screen in the Thor: Ragnarok sequel.
One thing we can safely say is that this Thor looks a lot different to the one we met in the 2011 movie.
If Jane Foster really is set to become the Mighty Thor, then it would make sense for the original to do something new with his appearance, moving on from that classic Asgardian gear we're so used to seeing. Either way, this is a badass redesign, and you can see a live-action shot of the costume here.
Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Chris Pratt, Jaimie Alexander, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Bradley Cooper, Taika Waititi, and Sean Gunn, and is currently set to be released in theaters on May 6, 2022.
