THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER Set Photos Tease A Flashback To The God Of Thunder's Breakup With Jane Foster

A Thor: The Dark World deleted scene revealed that the God of Thunder broke up with Jane Foster, and it appears the end of their relationship will be explored in greater detail in Thor: Love and Thunder...

Thor: Love and Thunder will finally bring Jane Foster back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While we know her transformation into the Mighty Thor is going to be a major part of the movie, many fans are keen to know how Marvel Studios plans to tackle her relationship with the God of Thunder.

After being separated at the end of Thor, the hero never got around to tracking Jane down in The Avengers, though they did seemingly get a happy ending in Thor: The Dark World. Unfortunately, by the time Avengers: Age of Ultron rolled around, we learned that they'd seemingly gone their separate ways. Now, though, it looks like Love and Thunder will reveal what happened.

In set photos from recent reshoots, we see both Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman made up to look like they did back in 2013. A Thor: The Dark World alternate ending saw Thor and Jane forced to end their courtship, so perhaps Marvel Studios and Taika Waititi plan to put a new spin on that?

It would certainly help better explain Jane's absence for all these years, especially as the character will clearly be a crucial part of the story that plays out in this fourth chapter of the franchise.

Thor: Love and Thunder arrives in theaters on July 8, 2022.

Not looking at the pics because not a spoiler junkie but I wonder if they will have to de-muscle Jane in post for these scenes.

I fully believe that in a flashback they’ll have Jane become aware of her diagnosis and she’ll break up with Thor using an excuse because she doesn’t want him to see her die

@MikeyL - I can see that happening

Generally when you do something you don’t want to do, you will not be a great one at it, in fact you will spiral. On purpose. You will doubt yourself to failure. And in that spiral if others are hurt even out of your control, you will blame yourself and become a shell of yourself, worse than before. Boy the MCU did that right.

@TheWalkingCuban - There's a line in Dune. I don't remember the exact line but it was something like this.. "A great ruler isn't someone who wants to be a ruler. A great ruler is someone who steps up when he is needed"

@KanchaCheena - YES! Thor is an encourager and a team player, but a T’Challa he ain’t. Hes neurotic in dealing with misfortune, sitting there feeling sorry for himself. I want to see where he’s at with that. Does he ever become truly selfless and mighty? His story keeps me interested in the MCU honestly, I needed this reminder

Soooo excited to see Portman back and being something more than a love interest! One of my all time favorite actresses and loved her chemistry with Hemsworth.

Really looking forward to see Taika tackle this scene or environment, because from his past movies....he can tug on the heart strings big time when it comes with loss or heartbreak.

@BlackBeltJones -

seriously. the dramatic scenes in that movie were actually it's saving grace. Frigga's death & Loki finding out she's dead were some great moments.

@HeraldNumber7 - I think as a whole it’s not the best but Frigga’s death and funeral are powerful

i am actually quite optimisitc about janes return.

i just hope marvel dont do the whole woke thing, its unnecessary. they did it with giving valkyrie asgard... which i despised and there was no sense in it.

but hey, marvel did it anyway.

Pretty Good scene. I don't know why it wasn't included the ending of the dark world could've remained intact with Thor giving up everything to be with Jane

I'm so glad they stopped having Thor speak like he stepped out of 1,150 AD. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I really prefer the way Waititi's Thor delivers dialogue.
