THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER Star Chris Hemsworth Hopes To Continue Playing God Of Thunder...If Fans Want Him To

Chris Hemsworth has opened up on his possible big screen future as the MCU's God of Thunder, revealing that he's happy to stick around...assuming fans aren't growing tired of seeing him. Check it out!

Chris Hemsworth has had an incredible run as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's God of Thunder. He's appeared in three solo movies and four Avengers team-ups, and will next be seen in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 along with a fourth solo outing in Thor: Love and Thunder

It's no secret that Natalie Portman's Jane Foster will transform into the Mighty Thor in the latter blockbuster, but are Hemsworth's days as this iconic hero nearly at an end?

Talking during an appearance on The Today Show in Australia, the actor was asked if he plans to follow in Tom Holland's footsteps by signing up for more Marvel Studios movies. "[Laughs] How many Spider-Mans has he done? He's a little behind me. I think he's done three. I've done six or seven Thors, so maybe," Hemsworth responded. "As long as they'll have me, I'll turn up, but I feel like that enthusiasm [for me] might be waning."

After the hosts assured him that's not the case and that no one wants him to step down as Thor, Hemsworth thanks his Australian supporters, joking: "Internationally, they may be going, 'Get rid of him! Get someone else!'"

That's 100% not the case, and we're hopeful there is a future for the Asgardian beyond his next movie. What that could look like remains to be seen, though, especially with Thor set to square off with Gorr the God Butcher (a villain who, in the comic books, pushes the hero to his limits).

Thor: Love and Thunder arrives in theaters on July 8, 2022.

I think Chirs will get two more Thor movies.

Spider-Man & Thor will be the only characters that will have two trilogies.

@ShellyMando - Don't underestimate Ant-Man here. He's got a trilogy already, and Paul Rudd's only, like, 35 or something. ;)

Have to appreciate that he really WANTS to keep playing him. This kind of enthusiasm is rare.

@BlackBeltJones - regardless of what people think…

Ragnarok seemed to really reinvigorate him in that role and from then on..he has seemed much happier then before in which the character seemed more static in his development post-Thor (2011).

The character is ever-changing and shifting now it seems.

I mean like I do but I don’t really want more movies at this point. I’d rather he be more of a side character than a major player. I think we’ve seen enough of him and he’s gone through just about every arc I can think of other than maybe passing the hammer to someone else. I’d love it if he just becomes a space-faring hobo/adventurer he occasionally crashes into other movies seemingly at random

@Razorface1 - Agreed! I hated his over comical approach. But I think we're in the minority lol. People loved Ragnarok.

Holland isn’t even close on Hemsworth in terms of movies.

Hemsworth is going for his 4th Thor film and 8th film overall. Holland is on his sixth if you count Civil War, which he was only in 10 minutes

Ragnarok is in my top 5 MCU movies. I’d be happy to see more Thor movies if they keep doing unique things with the character and especially would like to see Waititi close out a trilogy of his own

Jane will have her turn and MARVEL will spin the "est. Rogen" out of the cycle once they are fully satisfied with the cringeworthy box office results. The fact that high flop value came at the exact moment the world learned to avoid "COoties" is no coincidence. The world will adjust and return to theaters and MARVEL will give us quality films in phase 5, while simultaneously saying " see, you can do it too!" to everyone Trump use to give the ole confirmation grabs to way back when... This message will self-destruct in 3.. 2..
