The Art Department Of THOR: RAGNAROK Seemingly Confirms A New Updated Logo

The second movie's logo revealed on the Comic-Con floor divided fandom. Now, thanks to a photo of a crew member's shirt, we get an update - and the movie doesn't abandon its retro direction...

The first Thor: Ragnarok logo, shown at the Marvel Studios' Phase 3 presentation was very apocalyptic and "thory". But the second logo of the movie changed things a bit - we could clearly see the influence of the movie's director, Taika Waititi and his love for movies like Masters of The Universe. Now, the third logo, printed on the shirt of the movie's art department, confirms that it's still Waititi's production - it's definitely weird.

The shirt also shows us a strange, alien machine - but is it something more than an artistic gimmick? We'll have to wait to know the answer!

The new artwork is very Kirbyesque. It brings to mind the complex Kirby machines and armor from the earliest issues of Thor back in the 60s. That's the time period where Thor and the Warriors Three sailed the cosmos in a Viking ship(!), meeting Ego, Galactus, the Rigelians, the Celestials and others along the way. We are in for a visual treat if Waititi has used Kirby's artwork as a guide.

@Skrull - Thanks for reminding us and informing others (for the first time) that the director wanted Kirby's influence in this film.

That's either outdated or fake.

It has the old Marvel Studios logo.

@Robin91939 - it doesn't have the Marvel Studios logo. Just the plain old Marvel logo.

@Magus - yeah. And all Marvel films have the new "Marvel Studios" logo even if it's just on merchandise.

This isn't the current logo for the movie.

@Robin91939 -
This is the old Marvel Studious logo:

I wouldn't call this fake as it's just for set crew and the plain Marvel logo is the main logo for the company, which is incorporated in to all the logos.

If it was fake why would they adapt a new Thor logo instead of ripping the one from the internet? I'd say it's real, but was made by Watitis crew.

@Magus - it's very likely not fake. But it's definitely not current.

A big company like Marvel doesn't spend all the money they did on a new logo design and not use it for synergy across all platforms. The new logo with the side-by-side "Marvel Studios" will be the one used on all branded material and merch.
