Tom Hiddleston On Injecting More Loki In THOR: THE DARK WORLD

Tom Hiddleston on adding more Loki Laufeyson in Thor: The Dark World. Turns out the additional scenes for the Thor sequel are the brainchild of Hiddleston's own imagination. Remember, Hiddleston was very serious about trying to direct the film.

On whether the reaction to his SDCC performance resulted in more Loki being added to Alan Taylor's Thor: The Dark World, actor Tom Hiddleston tells The Huffington Post, "I don't know if that's why, but I'm in the film more than I was. I don't know quite how the decision was made, but we weren't redoing things we'd done before. We were adding new stuff. So that was fun for me. And some of the things were scenes I'd actually pitched for a long time ago."

On the collaborative environment at Marvel Studios, Hiddleston shares, "Well, the thing about Kevin Feige is he's very, very open and collaborative. And he and Louis D'Esposito, who run the studio -- I find it very admirable that they're open to ideas. Possibly more now than they would have been the first go-around. Chris Hemsworth and myself have lived inside these characters for two movies now and we've been inside every scene and we know what works and we know what doesn't works. And also, we know what we've done and what we shouldn't try to repeat. Because that was the great sort of fire underneath myself was not wanting to take anything for granted or just put the old recipe in the microwave, you know? And try and find new things for the characters to do -- new iterations of the relationship between Thor and Loki. And Kevin was really open to that. I remember as we were conceiving of the shape of the film, Kevin and [director] Alan Taylor were really open to it, especially because they always talk about the connective aspect of the Marvel universal."

Prefered to save Loki for the third film...

With every Tom Hiddleston interview, Tumblr's explodes.

I don't care if some people don't want more of the same - his Loki is a phenomenon. It'll run out eventually, but make no mistake - he's a successful character. He's the villainous Robert Downey Jr in that respect.

Sounds good. Hopefully not more comedic scenes or a "twist" where Loki actually turns out to be Thor and Thor turns out to be Loki. Hopefully not more snarky lines either.

The complicated Loki from the first film was great... The one-dimensional Loki from Avengers, not so much... i am really hoping that that T:TDW brings back the complicated version and that the film adds more dimension to his character...

A Loki one-shot that ties Thor:TDW to Thor 3 would be cool.

Just not seeing the fanboy swooning over Loki/Hiddleston. I think he's a very overrated character and will not understand the fan worship of him.

People talk shit about the final face off in THOR- Most likely spoiled by the Joton sequence and underwhelmed by the brief Destroyer battle. But that shit is dope. They had to come up with a fighting style for a dude wielding a big ass HAMMER- fighting a dude with a staff. I thought it was STAR WARS-Like. Like that traditional duel in every film.

With that said, I look forward to seeing more unorthodox fighting and hammer usage. If the choreography is as badass as THOR'S Mama is making it look.... beast mode.

He is awesome but I think that we have had enough from him! Three movies?? But Marvel won't kill him because Tom brings all the fangirls and fangirls=money and money=happy producers...

More Loki good.
SPOILER ALERT: Malekith (in another brilliant twist) turns out to actually be Hank Pym. NO ONE is expecting it.

At this point I'll be quite happy when they kill off Loki. Dragging this character out to 3 films is a bit much but if they continue to bring Loki into other movies in the future (except for MAYBE Thor 3) that cash cow will just get a giant eye-roll from me.

Seriously though. I hope Loki's around a long time. Bring back the Red Skull already and while you're at it Disney buy FF back and get Dr. Doom on board. Then true villainy can abound in the MCU.

Thor 3 is a terrible idea? WTF? Have you even read Simonson's stuff? If Malekith is here then Surtur is not far behind. Bring it on!

I enjoy Loki just as much as the Nxt person but I think it's time to get someone a turn like umm.... Thor
If Marvel is trusting only Loki to help carry the movie then that's not good Marvel's part

Like before we need some more badass villains..... Loki is all alone

And plz don't say red skull cause we haven't heard anything else from since Cap 1

@ragnorok

I would love to Surtur make a small cameo as the guy behind whatever going on Thor 2(much like how they did Thanos in Avengers)

If done right Surtur can be something on a whole new level

With Enchantress and Executioner also being involve in Thor 3

We'll find out in November but Thor vs Kurse fight better be epic fight and not half assed like the one with destroyer

Loki can't die, at most he can be imprisoned.

Balder is in TDW, so I suspect Loki will kill Balder and then Loki be imprisoned, kept subdued and in constant agony by the venom of the Midgard Serpent.

@Omega
That's a fine idea but I feel that if Loki is going to be in it, he won't be a side-lined character. He's got such a large fan following that they've been putting him in the forefront, such as here in TDW. I want Malekith to shine in this film because I think Marvel Studios needs another great villain. Loki has been great but, for me at least, he's the only great villain that they've presented to us and they're milking it. But if they can put Loki as more of a side character and not one of the main, then that would be fine.
I don't know a lot about the Thor comics, I know the character, Loki, the Warriors Three, Jane Foster, and a few of his villains. I've only read some old Kirby Avengers comics with Thor and the Thor and Loki Blood Brothers one shot. I don't know a lot but I just want them to tone down the amount of Loki if he's going to be in future films.

Loki is often a behind-the-scenes pull-the-strings kind of guy. He's pretty omnipresent in the Thor-verse but he doesn't always have to be front and center. The thing is- Hiddleston is such a charismatic actor and plays the role so well I don't think Marvel can show restraint in using him in a film. I hope they don't overdo it in this one. We will see.
Ragnaroknroll
Ragnaroknroll - 9/9/2013, 10:01 AM
@JoJo, totally agree. Thor's got a vast history and rogues gallery so I hope they keep going with it. I never thought I'd see a Thor film period let alone a sequel so I'm just grateful for every film I get.

But ... if this keeps rolling - yeah definitely Skurge and Amora and Balder and Karnilla and Hela and Ulik and Hercules and Mangog and Fafnir and the Midgard Serpent and Ragnarok and the Enchanters and Ego and the Rigellians and Crusher Creel and the Wrecking Crew and hell even Zarrko the Tomorrow Man.

Once Marvel gets the FF rights back we can also have Thor vs. Galactus, Thor vs. Surfer and Dr. Doom and Loki in cahoots.

@omega

That's exactly my fave scene in Thor too
The score was great
Chris looked pretty huge in that scene
The emotions he just let out

That and the Loki telling Thor he can never come back, were the best scenes in Thor on Earth, lol.

Always game for more Loki. Only caveat being, I wouldn't like him to overshadow Thor. The biggest complaint I had with the first film was that it went too quick. But that makes sense, being that they weren't sure how much people would enjoy the movie. Now that he's had a successful film, I hope we go deeper into Thor's character.

mgeoff88 - 9/9/2013, 10:12 AM
That's awesome Tom Hiddleston is so passionate and involved with the character.

Marvel Studios should let him direct a short film for Loki.

That would be a great way to show off his directing skills first hand.

@Ragnarok

Yeah I love to see those characters brought to life in Thor but I have a feeling after Dark World, part 3 might be Thor's last solo movie for awhile(since Chris contract is for 6 movies anyway). And Thor has a pretty good amount of villains, we're not going to see all of them make it...

And yeaahh too bad Fox still has the rights to FF, but I wanna see Marvel studios get the rights back of Silver Surfer, I would to see a solo movie of him.
Ragnaroknroll
Ragnaroknroll - 9/9/2013, 10:19 AM
@JoJo, yeah I'm sure you're right - but can't blame a guy for dreamin' right?

I also still cling to hope that Marvel will work something out with Fox to get those FF rights back. If not we can always resort to violence.

My main problem with Thor is the scale.... The first 30-40 minutes was so Epic(Asgard, Thor showing how badass he is, Loki evil little schemes he had going on). But after he fell to earth it went downhill to me, with maybe a few good scenes, not seeing into to a bad movie but I was a little bored with the Earth scenes and just waiting till we got back to Asgard scenes with Loki(great job Tom cause u made loki really got his chance to shine after Thor went to earth).
