I'm familiar with the images (PeeWee Herman hair and the dog), but I'm not familiar with the story/comic. But it must be worth something if Spielberg and Jackson are on the case. Live-action would have been amazing for this. Still looks good. I bet the 3D is phenomenal.

lokisilvertongue@ you got that right!

spideydude@ Just found the real plot of this movie. Thank god they are not briging Red Rackham to the present.

Combining the stories of The Crab with the Golden Claws, The Secret of the Unicorn and Red Rackham's Treasure, the film depicts Tintin's (Jamie Bell) first encounter with Captain Haddock (Andy Serkis) and the discovery of a clue to the treasure of his ancestor Sir Francis Haddock. They set out to find it with protection from a prison escapee who tried to get the treasure as well as Detectives Thompson and Thomson (Simon Pegg and Nick Frost).
Daniel Craig plays Red Rackham the historical pirate who attacked the Unicorn, the ship captained by Sir Francis Haddock (Captain Haddock´s grandfather). Daniel Mays and Mackenzie Crook plays Allan and Ernie the opium smugglers aboard Captain haddock´s ship Karaboudjan, Toby Jones plays kleptomanic pickpocket Aristides Silk, Tony Curran plays Lieutenant Delacourt, an ally of Tintin and Gad Elmaleh plays wealthy arab merchant Omar ben Salaad.

Tintin was probably one of the first comics I ever read - along with Asterix - back in the day!!

For that along it has a huge amount of interest.

At the moment it just looks like a very expensive computer game. Hope it has that 'wow' factor when it's released.

Being cynical makes me sound cool, so I'm going to slag everything of in a dry and witty way.

Put some more mascara on and pop on a Nirvana album, close your curtains and hate the world, I for one will look forward to watching it.

The animation does look pretty, but I was never interested in this as a kid. Will probably wait till its shown on TV as a Christmas special in a couple of years to see it, unless I see something to get me hooked!

Nice find though spideydude!

100% agree with your first post about the waste of resources.

STEVEN SPIELBERG:the man is an institution by himself+
PETER JACKSON: one of the most successful Filmmaker after Cameron,Spielberg and Lucas
they all come up with a "motion capture film"??I was hoping for some live action stuff.
Something strange:
1.mars needs mom bombed
2. Neither Beowulf nor a Christmas Carol(2009) made great money still they are bold enough to bring a "motion capture 100 %animated stuff"[Avatar had real humans and real explosions]
3. The film releases only a week after Sherlock 2,MI4 and Chipmunks 3 .
4. Spielberg himself must have been focusing most of his attention towards "War horse"
5. Tintin was a nice show but not great to have a mega million adaptation.

pity that there is no sight of captain haddock,it was always funny whenever he was around :) but it's nice to see a wonderful childhood cartoon and comic turned into a beautiful movie :) with such talent involved.

Tintin is one of the most famous and awerded comic books of all time. You may have no idea of what it is, since no one wears muscle tightened spandex suits.

Do you guys know that the Indiana Jones saga was meant to be Tintin's?
Chewtoy
Chewtoy - 5/17/2011, 5:28 AM
What's most interesting to me is that they went to great lengths in that trailer to hide the character animation, which is what most people find so off-putting about motion-capture stuff. Seriously, it's all objects or silhouettes throughout the running time, until the very end where they bow to the inevitable and decide "Well, we have to show Tin-tin... Just have him be as unanimated as possible."

Tintin is a great character, a legend. I live in Bangldesh. Have grown up by reading 2nd-hand marvel/dc comics from 90's till now. I have a good collection..enough to empress a person not familier with comics. But instead of picking a Marvel/Dc comic from my 10 tons of collection he/she would choose a Tintin book ! THAT how much populer Tintin is in my country and the entire sub-continent. I May have said too much..but the power of writing this much comes from my love and respect for Herge's work.
