ReelChicago released this awesome story!
Starting July 4 and filming for seven weeks, director Michael Bay’s “Transformers 3” will shoot in Chicago, which along with Moscow, will be “the focus of the big action sequences,” according to Bay’s official website.
Chicago Film Office director Rich Moskal calls the upcoming big-budget shoot “a blockbuster in every sense of the word; in terms of economic impact, stunts and special effects.”
In a sit-down with the producers last winter, Mayor Daley was agreeable to their city location requests “as he saw the multiple value in this big movie shooting here,” says Moskal. They will shoot along Michigan Avenue and throughout the Loop.
Starting May 10 “T3” will work out of Chicago Film Studios Chicago (the Ryerson steel plant), occupying 300,000 sq. ft. for offices, stages, construction, wardrobe, transportation, etc., according to studio manager Alex Pisseos.
Scheduled for a July 1, 2011 release, “T3” is expected to provide the greatest amount of local union employment since “Public Enemies” filmed here in 2008.
While the plot is being tightly held under wraps, Michael Bay did say in a Blu-ray extra that “T3” can’t get any bigger, so it will have to go “sideways,” in terms of overall scope and action.
He also revealed that the new Autobot being introduced will be a Ferrari 458 Italia.
“T3” will shoot in six other world cities in the continuing saga of the admirable Autobots and dastardly Decepticons, who disguise themselves by transforming into everyday machinery.
Cast members are Shia Labeouf as Sam Witwicky, Megan Fox as his girlfriend, Mikaela, John Malkovich as Sam’s boss, Kevin Dunn, Julie White, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Frances McDormand, and Ken Jeong.
-PHOENIX:
Most of what we have heard points to this being a mostly land locked film. So my hopes for Unicron may be dashed. You boys in Chicago need to try and snag us some pictures when the time rolls around.
I hope this one is better than the last two.
