TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS Producer On How G.I. JOE Factors Into The Sequel

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura sheds a bit more light on how G.I. Joe will factor into Paramount's forthcoming Autobot sequel.

The ending of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts saw Anthony Ramos' Noah Diaz interviewing for a security job but he later discovered that he was actually being recruited to join G.I. Joe.

It's an obvious play by Paramount that a G.I. Joe and Transformers crossover is happening...or is it.

Producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura confirmed that the Joes will definitely be in the next film, however, it won't necessarily be a full-blown crossover just yet.

"I don’t look at things like a universe, I look at them as a story and [the Joes] will be a part of the story. I also think the term "crossover" means different things for different people. For me, the Joes, whoever they are, are entering the world of Transformers, not combining the two worlds. The plan is to eventually do [a crossover]. But, for the next movie, it’s the Joes that are coming in for whatever the ending of Rise of the Beasts has led us to believe is possible."

Di Bonaventura was also quick to point out that they don't actually have a script for the sequel yet, so it's possible these plans could change.

"Oh, they will interact. We haven’t developed a script yet though. What I will say is just like we do with every other movie, it will be a team of Transformers and humans fighting the fight. The Joes will be a part of that."

Although Rise of the Beasts is available for purchase on digital OnDemand, the film is still playing in a limited number of theaters.

This past weekend the film added another $1.12M to its domestic gross, bringing its North American total to $155.64M. Its worldwide gross currently stands at $425M. Rise of the Beasts has an estimated production budget of $195-$200M.

TRANSFORMERS: RISE OF THE BEASTS is available on Digital now and 4K Ultra HD SteelBook™, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray™, and DVD on October 10th.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Official Synopsis: Returning to the action and spectacle that have captured moviegoers around the world, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will take audiences on a ‘90s globetrotting adventure with the Autobots and introduce a whole new faction of Transformers – the Maximals – to join them as allies in the existing battle for earth. Directed by Steven Caple Jr. and starring Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback, the film arrives in theatres June 9, 2023.

Rise of the beasts was terrible, the usual dramedy generic ass human script that Paramount had in a box, mixed with the part people want to [frick]ing see. Trash. Praise physical media! Streaming is for losers

@marvel72 - I had to look it up. Pretty cool, but the novelty would wear off pretty quick imo, especially at that price!

@marvel72 @Feralwookiee - I, um, preordered it the afternoon it was announced (looks sheepishly down at feet). BUT, in my defense, my wife is going to share the cost with my as a Christmas present (a couple of years ago she got me the first version of the Robosen self-transforming Prime and last year got me his self-transforming trailer). Naturally they still in the boxes along with all my other TFs (like the 3' Unicron that HasLab produced a few years back. And, yes, my wife got me that for Christmas as well. Now as I'm typing this it dawned on me that I may need therapy... 😉.

@Feralwookiee - Yeah I think you're probably right,I would be tempted to buy Megatron,Galvatron or Soundwave.

Maybe even Shockwave and Starscream.

@StSteven - Don't be ashamed man, I would love both Prime and Grimlock but they're a bit pricey.

Glad you can afford them.

@marvel72 - Oh, yeah, same here. It's just that I think that the more complex the transformations, the less likely that we'll see them in Robosen form. Megatron as a tank, Soundwave as a boom box, and Shockwave as a space gun all seem fairly easy to do as the had relatively easy transformations. Starscream would probably be the hardest, but then again I wouldn't have thought that Gridlock would have been the next one (apparently they took 7 years to develop him). So who knows.

@marvel72 - Well, FWIW I literally spent half of my adult life in and out of college as a starving (and occasionally homeless) college student putting myself through school, and by the time I finally got my PhD that amounted to 18 years of college, so now I can finally reap the benefits (my wife also has a PhD, both of us in Comp. Sci. at the same university, which is how we met). Should I be putting my "disposable income" to better uses? Probably (and my wife certainly does).

But I've found what I think is a good balance between indulging my hobbies/interests (I also have a 100 gal saltwater reef take which is probably more expensive to maintain than a cocaine addition) and investing/putting money aside for my retirement (which is still along ways off). So when I splurge every now and again (I had to get the recent Masterpiece Jetfire because, DAMN and last weekend I found a toy store nearby that had all 4 of the original Technobots pretty much MISB at a very reasonable price), I might suffer from buyer's remorse for a little bit but it passes.

At the end of the day, my two daughters will never struggle financially the way that I had to to get through college as my wife and I have college funds for them, so if I end up spending a couple hundred bucks on a TF here or there it doesn't keep me up at nights. 😊

the movies a flop. lets see if they make this. paramounts in deep shit. mi7 and transformers 7 are flops and with the strikes they can't get shit made for the streaming service. this going to be interesting to see what they do

StSteven

@marvel72 @dragon316 - I'm holding out on seeing it until it comes out on disc so I can watch it in 4K in the comfort of a leather recliner in my movie room drinking beer that doesn't cost me $15 a glass. And I'm a life-long TF fan in every medium. If anything good came pout of COVID it's that it taught me to have patience when it comes to seeing movies as soon as they come out. Before that, my wife and I would go to the theaters practically every weekend and then I would usually still buy the movies on disc when they came out (I'm even a member of the "AMC Stubbs Club"). Seems kinda wasteful in retrospect, especially if you already have a nice home theater, although it does help you t have a more refined home video collection because you're essentialll previewing the movies in the theater before you decide whether or not to buy it later.

Tom Clancy universe should see characters we know living an adaptation of The Division then split into their own franchises.

Well he's getting a little too technical there because crossover also involves when someone or a group of people enter the world/reality of others characters in their own specific continuity.

Combining two worlds is not a crossover but more merging and that term in itself isn't the buzz generator one needs to hype up audiences.

In any case I'm still looking forward to how the Joes adapt when being near the Autobots.

In other words, he doesn't have a clue. If they would follow Hama's story it would be good but no. We will end up with 4 Transformers and maybe 3 Joe's and call it a crossover.
