Paramount Pictures Reportedly Developing THE BOYS With Adam McKay

Good news! Adam McKay has confirmed that Paramount have picked up the rights to the Garth Ennis and Darick Roberson comic book series after Columbia Pictures decided to pass on it earlier this year.

Fans of the Garth Ennis and Darick Roberson comic book series were saddened earlier this year to learn that Columbia Pictures had abandoned their plans to bring The Boys to the big screen. Adam McKay (The Other Guys) had signed up write and direct the adaptation which was described as, "a $100 million, rated-R, anti-superhero movie," back in March 2011 when he first signed up. However, it turns out that there is hope for the project yet.

The Tweet has since been deleted by McKay, but as you can see, it can still be viewed on the timeline of the fan who expressed his disappointment about the film seemingly no longer being developed. The Boys was originally published by Wildstorm before moving to Dynamite Entertainment. The series is set between 2006-2008 in a world where superheroes exist. However, most of the superheroes in the series' universe are corrupted by their celebrity status and often engage in reckless behavior, compromising the safety of the world. For this reason, a superpowered CIA squad, known informally as "The Boys", is charged with monitoring the superhero community. [Wikipedia]

Hope it happens.although the comic lost me after a while, Ennis can be like Mark Millar when it comes to gratuity just for the sake of it. Preacher worked a lot better.

Adam McKay, Jesus Christ, seriously? If he casts Will effing Ferrell as Frenchie I'm going to cause violence somewhere, somehow!

@KidZombie I'll be getting CIA funding to form a team designed specifically to keep producers of comic book movies in line. Y'know. By kicking their heads in. Starting with Sony

@DeanVanHalen 2 bad movies out of 9 makes them a terrible movie studio? Oh, and also, Sony has more money than you, they could probably bribe the president to get the U.S. Military to send an F-22 to wherever you live so they can blow your home to kingdom come and then say that another country did it.
