THE BOYS Gets An Awesome First Teaser Promo As STAR TREK Actor Simon Pegg Joins Cast

Following last week's comic-inspired key art, the first teaser promo for Amazon's adaptation of Garth Ennis' The Boys is now online, and it certainly sets the tone for the show.

The footage begins with Elizabeth Shue's character introducing Vought International and their portfolio of superheros, most of whom are parodies of some very recognizable DC icons. We then see footage of The Seven performing various heroic acts, before we cut to The Boys themselves giving the TV the finger.

It was also revealed at NYCC than Simon Pegg has joined the cast as Wee Hughie's father. Fans of the comic series will likely be aware that Pegg was actually the inspiration for Hughie's appearance, so it's cool that the Star Trek actor gets to be a part of the show in some capacity.

In a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame, The Boys centers on a group of vigilantes known informally as "the boys," who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than blue collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty.

The Boys doesn't have a premiere date yet, but it will be with us at some point next year. The show hails from Supernatural creator and Timeless co-creator Eric Kripke, Preacher‘s Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen, and Sony Pictures TV.

Costumes look great. Homelander looks awesome. BUT Why has Jack from Jupiter been made invisible/replaces with an invisible hero?!?!

I want to see the clip they showed of Butcher and Hughie - if they’re doing English and Scottish accents I’m in.

I still get a kick out of their decision to turn the thug rapist asshole A-train black and the relatively rational and mature Deep white.

Loved the comics. Doubt they'll be that graphic on the show, but I'm IN.

@somejackball - There is no confusion but your own. Karl Urban is playing the character the Butcher. Dennis Quaid & Meg Ryan's Son Jack Quaid is playing Wee Hughie. The Character Wee Hughie's likeness was based on Simon Pegg who is too old to play him now so it was announced Pegg will Cameo as Wee Hughie's father but there is no picture of him in that role to show yet.

The Boys was not the greatest comic, but it has enough about it for the adaptation to be extremely relevant with the risen status of superheroes.

Quoted from Newsweek:

"Throughout the first season, The Seven will learn more about The Boys as the show starts at a time period that takes place before the events in the comics. The Boys don't have powers in the show either, The Female is the only one with powers.

“The show takes a bunch of blue collar people and puts them against the elite. The interesting thing is seeing how they use their deviousness to outsmart them,” said Urban.

Ultimately, the show will have to differ slightly from the comics in a variety of ways. Goldberg explained that the comic didn’t pull punches, and went really crazy because “Garth goes there.” However, the show will take a more measured approach."

Yeah, [frick] off. I'm out.
