Black Noir was taken out of action by Queen Maeve towards the end of The Boys Season 2 when she took advantage of his peanut allergy by stuffing an Almond Joy in his gob. The enigmatic ninja appeared to go into anaphylactic shock, but Homelander did mention that he was "unresponsive" in the finale, which obviously confirms that he's still alive.
During a Twitter Q&A, showrunner Eric Kripke not only promised that Noir will return for Season 3, but strongly hinted that we'd see him without his mask for the first time.
"Absolutely, Noir will be back," Kripke said. "And we're actually going to learn more about him in Season 3. You know, there might even be an opportunity for him to take off his mask."
Here's where things get (potentially) SPOILER-Y!
In the comics, Black Noir actually turns out to be a clone of Homelander who was positioned in The Seven as a sort of contingency plan to take down the mega-powerful supe should he ever lose control. We got glimpse under Noir's mask when Maeve assaulted him with a chocolate bar, however, and he certainly didn't look much like Homelander.
This suggests that the show will go a different route with the character, and there's a lot of speculation that he'll turn out to be either a clone of Stan Edgar's, or maybe even his son.
How do you think Black Noir's story will play out in The Boys Season 3?
