THE BOYS Showrunner Confirms That Black Noir Will Return For Season 3 - SPOILERS

Queen Maeve took Black Noir off the board (with an Almond Joy, of all things) during The Boys Season 2, and showrunner Eric Kripke has now confirmed that the fan-favourite Seven member will return...

Black Noir was taken out of action by Queen Maeve towards the end of The Boys Season 2 when she took advantage of his peanut allergy by stuffing an Almond Joy in his gob. The enigmatic ninja appeared to go into anaphylactic shock, but Homelander did mention that he was "unresponsive" in the finale, which obviously confirms that he's still alive.

During a Twitter Q&A, showrunner Eric Kripke not only promised that Noir will return for Season 3, but strongly hinted that we'd see him without his mask for the first time.

"Absolutely, Noir will be back," Kripke said. "And we're actually going to learn more about him in Season 3. You know, there might even be an opportunity for him to take off his mask."

Here's where things get (potentially) SPOILER-Y!

In the comics, Black Noir actually turns out to be a clone of Homelander who was positioned in The Seven as a sort of contingency plan to take down the mega-powerful supe should he ever lose control. We got glimpse under Noir's mask when Maeve assaulted him with a chocolate bar, however, and he certainly didn't look much like Homelander.

This suggests that the show will go a different route with the character, and there's a lot of speculation that he'll turn out to be either a clone of Stan Edgar's, or maybe even his son.

How do you think Black Noir's story will play out in The Boys Season 3?

The actor playing him is black and he was also visibly burnt too. Should be interesting.

@BlackBeltJones - He doesn't identify with any race really though. So they're covered

I didn't figure that was the end for him. I doubt we're getting the clone swerve. When they do unmask him though, it better be for a really good twist no one saw coming.

I think he’s gonna be a clone, but not of Homelander. In fact, there’s a Black Noir cloning facility, I believe every time one of the clones dies or gets severely hurt, they just pull out another clone to replace the previous. However, with Kripke saying Homelander goes full bat sh*t crazy next season, I can totally see him still having the secret task of bringing Homelander down, just like the comics - but not as Homelanders clone.

Black Noir ended in a similar posistion in which A-Train found himself in S1, knocking on Heaven's door and in critical condition. (In fact the whole group of The Seven are also back to square one like in S1 finale: it's just Homelander, Maeve, Starlight, A-Train and Noir and they're back to being down to just 5 members)

Funny enough it happened as well involving a fight with Starlight.

I am not gonna let go of my prediction that someway it could be Butcher's brother Lenny behind the mask. The mentionings about it during S2 to me are small clues for foreshadowing.

@NinnesMBC - Noir for me seems to have honour about him to an extent so i think he will forgive and forget the Maeve and Starlight fight once he finds out that they were doing it to stop Stormfronts secret plot

@NinnesMBC - Black Noir being Lenny would be a cool twist, but we've already seen that Black Noir is in fact Black

Of course. They already mentioned that he was recovering in the finale.

What a great back half of this season, last several episodes have been crazy! Really enjoyed the finale. Wish there were more episodes to look forward to.

Also, I did not see that congresswoman being the head popper.

Noir is low-key hilarious😂
Hoping they would show some of his backstory in season 2 but maybe they do it in season 3

Firstly I definitely think he's an Edgar clone.

Secondly I think we'll see Noir back in action in S3 only to find out at some point that S3 Noir is a different one and that the one from S2 is Still in hospital at which point someone can find this out and go and talk to him for information. We get a little bit of his backstory before Vought or Neuman take him out for good and then we move forward with the replacement.

Also got to assume that if this is the case that Edgar likely has a warehouse somewhere filled with Black Noirs all ready to go at any moment.

@IronDean2099 - exactly my thoughts too. Noirs literally lined up as replacements.
