For those of you who have read the comic you know that Lori and her baby are killed at the prison in The Walking Dead. Sarah Wayne Callies, who plays Lori on the television show of the same name, told The Hollywood Reporter that she think Lori has to die in the show as well. "Frank Darabont and I actually, before he was tragically and unfairly removed from the show, we used to argue about it, I argued that it was necessary to kill Lori and I feel very strongly that for all of the other deviations we may have from the comic book, killing Lori does something to Rick that is vital for the story and can’t be done any other way,” she said. While continuing on the subject she revealed that from the beginning when she was cast in the part that not only has she been okay with it but insisted that she HAS to. She went on to add that she has played the character with her eye at the end.

The Walking Dead stars Andrew Lincon, Sarah Wayne Callies, Chandler Riggs, Norman Reedus, Lori Holden, Melissa McBride, Lauren Cohan, Iron E Singleton, Danai Gurira, David Morrissey, and will return on October 14, 2012.

Sounds like I am now happy about Frank Darabont leaving the show if he was all about keeping Lori alive....

Glad to hear she's behind that aspect of the story. I would think an actor on a hit show would want to stick around as much as possible. Im glad she has the story in mind and not her paycheck. Its refreshing

I agree, kill Lori. The question is...Do they have the balls to do it? Will they show her and (even more shocking) the baby's demise? Guess we'll have to wait and see.

I hope so. It will push Rick further and I also hate her character.

@ Mentok - my thoughts exactly...I suppose if they did it like the comic where you never actually see the baby get killed it is simply implied...they could work around it...

Sheesh shes not a bitch, what ever happened to respect? (facepalm)

anyway yes she has to die but thats only because of the story, the babys death may get pulled from tv so we can't tell what the exact details are yet.

Yeah but i have a feeling it won't happen the way of the comic.... like Shane they are going to drag it out for a while to build up more value for the character so it will be a emotional Loss for the viewers.

@kevberg

Don't think anyone here thinks the actress and the character are the same person, It's just that Lori (IMHO) is not a likeable character.

Regarding the baby, agree with you. No need to show it onscreen.

@Suppersomething16 said it best. The baby's murder should just be implied.

When I asked if the network would have the balls I meant to ask: Are they ready to let go of the character? And not just Lori, those of us who have read the comic know that the members of the band of survivors soon start falling like flies. Will the network reamin true to the comic, killing characters regardless of their popularity? Or take another direction completely?

I totally forgot she was in prison break, huh ain't that some shit. ^^ Carl isn't dieing he's a major player in the comics. Lori's gotta die this season it's her character's time. I know they kept Shane around a lot longer then in the the comics but, i just don't see that with Lori. I think she will get shot and die when pregnant too. Just my opinion but i doubt they will show the baby get killed. If this were HBO, I'd say they have the baby die inside her and eat it's way out of her. But it's AMC so that's not gonna happen.

@MrNiceGuy: Unfortunately it's only been maybe three weeks since Rick woke up. I initially found this hard to believe, but when you watch the show closely you'll find the first season and at least through the mid-season break of the second is about one day per episode (with an extra day in between seasons to account for the trashed 2nd season premiere as heard in Ricks CB monologue).

That Carl sure does grow and heal fast, doesn't he?

Wow I really didn't like her throughout the second season... but thats an excellent sentiment... they are going to continue making serious changes, but I believe Lori dying is very important to push the story forward

Lori was such an annoying, nagging bitch in the comics. I was so happy when she died. She's no different in the show. But I agree with this actress, she needs to die because it had a HUGE effect on Rick in the comics.
