ARROW'S Count Vertigo Inspired By Liam Neeson's Ra's al Ghul
While chatting about the show, Arrow Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg talked about how Liam Neeson's performance in Batman Begins as Ra's Al Ghul inspired their version of Count Vertigo.
Arrow is still a week away from its return, but the buzz over upcoming villains is still very high. The Dark Archer made his presence felt before the show's hiatus, and we have seen the new promo that shows Firefly. Another villain that is upcoming will be Count Vertigo. Fringe Actor Seth Gamble will step in to play Vertigo, which has been promised to be a completely different version than the comics.
The show has not hid from the fact that they are developing a world similar to Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy, and Executtive producer Andrew Kreisberg reiterated that by saying they are drawing inspiration for Vertigo off of Liam Neeson's Ra's al Ghul. “The comic-book version of him, the Count Werner von Vertigo… when your last name is Vertigo of course you’re going to grow up to be a super villain who uses vertigo as a weapon. That concept just doesn’t exist in our world, and we’ve never been shy about saying that we’ve taken all of our cues from Chris Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, and how he took somebody like Ra’s al Ghul, played by Liam Neeson, who was immortal in the comics and presented a realistic take on how he could be immortal, by having a front man who could be killed and allowing him to survive," he told ScifiNow. Kreisberg went on to say that Vertigo will be the show's first complete over haul of a character, and that he is really excited about it.
Arrow returns with all new episodes January 16th on the CW. The show stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, Colin Donnell as Tommy, Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Willa Holland as Thea Queen, Susanna Thompson as Moira Queen, and Paul Blackthorne as Detective Quentin Lance.
