Caity Lotz On LEGENDS OF TOMORROW's Time Travel, Canary vs. Canary And More

Thanks to the wonders of the Lazarus Pit, Sara Lance will return to the land of the living in Legends of Tomorrow, and here actress Caity Lotz dishes on the use of time travel in the series, bringing back the Canary, and whether she's going to go head-to-head with her sister, Laurel...

Sara Lance's death in the Season 3 premiere of Arrow served as the shocking drive for many of the season's events, with the reveal that the character would feature in spin-off show Legends of Tomorrow conjuring an equal amount of questions -- especially from Sara Lance herself, Caity Lotz. The actress says the chance to play Sara once again (who will go by the alias of White Canary) came as an unexpected, but welcome, surprise. "When you play a character for so long, you become really attached to them," she tells Entertainment Weekly. "I was so sad when she died. It's nice to know that she gets to come back to life. You only get to do that in the comic book world."

Lotz explains that growing out of both Arrow and The Flash allows it to head into uncharted territory for superhero television, "I think the crossover potential is something that really excites me about the show," she says. "[It's] what I feel like sets it apart from all the other superhero shows." Lotz also touches upon the time travel elements in Legends of Tomorrow, explaining that "it's going to take us into a different world, not in the sense of another dimension. It's going to be a completely different vibe. That will be cool to think that if we're in a different time period, it's going to really shake up the show, really keep it exciting and different."

After Sara's death, her sister, Laurel Lance (played by Katie Cassidy), took up the Canary mantle and became a fresh new member of Team Arrow. The potential for the two sisters to meet once again is ripe, says Lotz, but would it be a mutual understanding, or tense conflict? She leans more towards conflict... "Sara and Laurel's relationship has always been a pretty complicated one," she explains. "I don't imagine that these recent events are going to make it any less complicated. I'm curious to see."

"Would they be fighting against each other?"
Lotz continues. "Or would they be fighting on the same side? I don't think Sara would be into Laurel donning the mask and becoming Black Canary, just because she wouldn't have wanted her to have the same life that she had, that she wasn't so into all that darkness. I definitely hope that something happens, whether they fight together or against each other. It could be cool side by side. I'm into that." What do you guys think? Will we see the White Canary face off against the Black Canary, or will the two work side-by-side?

DC is pulling out all the stops for Comic Con! But Constantine is missing :(

@Jollem

Why is it that you only have something positive to say when it's a DC related. As comic book fans were all in the same boat and if you like something DC you can most certainly like something Marvel and vice versa. There both similar in a lot of ways.

NBC is just a crazy network.
When you up and cancel a show like Hannibal, I guess Constantine shouldn't feel too bad.

I enjoyed Constantine but it was a hard sell trying to do things Supernatural had been doing for a decade, and NBC didn't help by sticking on a terrible day and time (Friday nights at 9:00).

This isn't 1990. Nerds aren't at home on Friday nights at 9:00.

I'm glad to see her back; I think she did a very good job as the first Canary. I wonder why she isn't sporting a mask in this incarnation especially since Sara Lance was previously deceased. They may not reveal her return to Detective Lance right away. Going mask-less is a strange route even though the comic book version of the Black Canary never wore one (hence the disguise wig); the mask adds mystery to the character. The current trend seems to be as little mask-time or helmet as possible, especially in CBM's (sic Avengers Ultron...).

Well, Im not sure what to think of this crap yet… At one moment Im like yeah maybe this will make for some entertaining stuff and on the other hand Im like I hope this doesn't lower the quality of how much I like the Flash if this show sucks.
Heres to hoping its more like the Flash and less like the Arrow.

Glad she's back, much preferred her as the Canary to Katie / Laurel. I just think & feel she plays it / does it better.

In the TV universe they have established, Black Canary would last MAYBE four seconds against the White Canary. Sara's years of training from the League against L

@ratticus58
Can't have those pretty actor faces all covered up now can we.
But seriously, by going without masks so often, these shows basically give up the right to have stories about villains finding out the not-so-secret identity of any given hero. You can't have friends and family being threatened, kidnapped, or killed because the hero decides stooopidly that a mask isn't necessary.

Wow. That Atom scene was dupe, much better than anything I've seen in the Ant-Man trailers. Since, my knowledge on Ant-Man is next to nothing I can't really compare the two though.
