We know James Gunn is writing a new Superman movie for DC Studios, but the co-CEO and filmmaker has now confirmed that he's also penning an unannounced upcoming DCU TV series as well. Read on for details!

As co-CEO of DC Studios, James Gunn will be doing more than serving as just an executive. He's already writing a new Superman movie (san Henry Cavill), and has now confirmed an unannounced DC TV show is among his other projects!

Peacemaker season 2 is still thought to be in the works despite the dawning of a new era with the DCU, so Gunn probably isn't referring to that. At the same time, the filmmaker is working on putting the finishing touches to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and is still in the midst of putting together a slate of projects we should learn more about later this month.

Your guess is as good as ours when it comes to which character will take centre stage in the series, but Gunn has previously said he and Peter Safran are creating a shared world that's going to encompass movies, TV shows, and video games.

There were once rumblings about The Suicide Squad writer and director developing small screen projects revolving around various members of Task Force X.

However, with Cavill ousted as the Man of Steel and even Dwayne Johnson no longer set to return as Black Adam, fans won't be happy if Gunn's cast gets to return amid reports even Gal Gadot is done as Wonder Woman! We're hoping the focus of this mystery show might be a character who is long overdue a live-action project, with countless possibilities on that front.

We still don't have a confirmed date for DC Studios' partial slate reveal or news on how many years that will encompass. Fingers crossed this series is among the projects we learn about later this month, though.

Which DC Comics character would you like this series to put the spotlight on?

peacemaker is, imo, the best thing gunn’s ever done. but i also think it’s a little creatively limiting that he’s writing so many of the big upcoming dc projects, feel like one of the best aspects about guardians was how refreshing gunn’s voice felt like in the genre - which won’t be the case if the creative teams are this homogenised.

@tmp3 - he's writing one show and one movie. Thinking (or rather, hoping) there will be more DCU stuff coming out in 2024.

I wouldn't be surprised if the unannounced tv show is just season 2 of Peacemaker or the other show being reworked into a show for the new DCU.

@bkmeijer1 - The problem with it being Peacemaker Season 2 is that season 1 had Flash and Aquaman cameo, if he is wiping the slate clean then it will feel odd if they're still featured in it.

@marvel72 - I meant moreso that he is just taking the story outline of Peacemaker S2, and applies it to new characters in a new universe with no trace of Cena's Peacemaker or any other character that appeared

Not sure how I feel about this. While I like most of Gunn's stuff, I didn't like Suicide Squad and Peacemaker.

More importantly, I worry that we are going to see a DCU (what's it called now?) that has too much of a singular "voice" and lack originality among it's projects.

Waiting to hear something that he isn’t writing. Once we hear some of the talent he’s going after, I think that’ll be more exciting.

Hmm...an unannounced Gunn DC project?

Booster Gold s1 - Series follows Michael Carter as he comes to the 21st century. He meets Ted Kord early on and the two hit it off as unlikely allies in a globe-trotting buddy-cop story. They end up meeting several allies along the way, leading to season 2: Booster Gold and the Justice League International.

My Ideal Lineup:
Booster Gold
Ted Kord (As a tech guy and occasional vigilante)
Guy Gardner
Ice
Fire
Big Barda
Mr. Miracle

There's plenty of room for more characters to cameo and create a rotating cast that gives the spotlight to characters like Rocket Red, Captain Atom, and Power Girl.
