FORTNITE Removes PEACEMAKER's "Peaceful Hips" Emote Due To Apparent Nazi Imagery

Epic Games has announced that Fortnite's "Peaceful Hips" emote, based on Peacemaker season 2's opening credits, has been removed from the game due to apparent Nazi imagery. You can learn more here...

In last Thursday's episode of Peacemaker, we learned Earth-X isn't quite as perfect as it seems. In fact, it's downright horrific, as the final few minutes of "Ignorance Is Chris" confirmed that it's a world where the Nazis won World War II.

Eagle-eyed fans have noticed that the show's opening credits hint at through John Cena's dance moves (season 1's catchy opening similarly teased the Butterflies). However, it's proven to be a problem for Fortnite and the "Peaceful Hips Emote" that was added to the game earlier this month.

"We're disabling the Peaceful Hips Emote in Fortnite as we inquire into our partner's creative intentions in this collab emote," Epic Games wrote on social media. "Assuming it's not coming back, we'll issue refunds in the next few days. Sorry folks."

As you might expect, Fortnite doesn't want players running around flashing a swastika pose every 5 minutes, and it's hard not to wonder how this fell through the cracks.

Epic Games likely won't be happy with DC Studios and Warner Bros. Discovery for not giving them a heads-up. James Gunn, who has yet to comment on the announcement, withheld the final three episodes of Peacemaker season 2 from everyone to maintain the surprise, so that could explain how this happened.

"It comes from Christopher Smith’s personal journey of running away and his inability to accept the place in which he is," Gunn recently told The Hollywood Reporter of the Earth-X reveal. "When you think of it not in terms of the political — but in terms of the personal and how that represents our own specific journeys and lives — we try to run away from where we are and who we are and what’s in our lives."

"The inability to accept where we are is the root of all our issues. Christopher Smith does this in a physical way, going from one dimension to another that’s as different from his own life as can possibly be imagined. His father is a loving father, his brother is alive and the girl he’s in love with is fawning over him and thirsty."

"So he has everything he thinks is different from what he has [in his own world] because he’s not willing to accept the challenges of his own life," the filmmaker continued. "Of course, that is a sort of monkey’s paw, and it ends up being way worse than where he started. So I see it from a personal journey perspective, and then it just so happens to coincide with political stuff in our own world."

Check out Fortnite's announcement, along with a GIF of the controversial Peacemaker emote, in the X posts below.

Peacemaker season 2 follows Chris Smith, the vigilante superhero, as he struggles to reconcile his past with his newfound sense of purpose while continuing to kick righteous evildoer butt in his misguided quest for peace at any cost. He discovers an alternate world where life is everything he wishes it could be. But this discovery also forces him to face his traumatic past and take the future into his own hands.

Season 2 stars John Cena, Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, Frank Grillo, Sol Rodríguez, David Denman, Brey Noelle, and Tim Meadows.

James Gunn wrote all eight episodes of Peacemaker and directed three, including the first episode. Gunn, Peter Safran, and Cena serve as executive producers. Greg Mottola, Peter Sollett, and Alethea Jones also direct.

In our review of Peacemaker season 2's first five episodes, we wrote, "Peacemaker season 2 feels like a wholly superfluous addition to the new DCU, and lacks the stakes and emotion that made season 1 so special. Fortunately, it’s buoyed by some fun surprises for fans and another exceptional turn from John Cena."

Six episodes of Peacemaker season 2 are now streaming on HBO Max.

@WalletsClosed - These idiots see “Nazi’s” and “Fascists” everywhere while not r was living they are the ones acting as actual fascist in most cases. It’s insane. The Left had been brainwashed on those terms. For the simpleminded with no critical thinking skills, it’s Pavlovian-like conditioning. The media, Left politicians and Hollywood celebrities have repeated the stupidity so often, the sheep parrot it without even realizing what those terms even mean

Then you throw in the spreading influence from the death cult of islam that has been growing in influence over the last 60 years. Can you imagine what would happen to these pu$$y junior league anarchists if they were suddenly in a real islamic dictatorship country.

@Bucky74 - Legit question, when you point at the left as a whole and deem that they all align with the extremism do you see how that may parallel to the left calling everyone fascists even if all aren't?

Just something to ponder about. As someone who refuses to affiliate with either side, yall do the same shit
Bucky74
Bucky74 - 9/28/2025, 11:44 AM
@Wahhvacado - That’s fair. I used to be a Democrat and voted for Obama during his first term. Then I stared seeing the Dems pushing harder and harder to the Left and go full Marxist on many issues as the Republicans pushed more to the middle. Both sides used to be much, much closer on the issues and I liked that. When you watch old debates, both sides agreed that we are a sovereign nation with borders, criminals are bad and belong in prisons, the interests of Americans should come first, you don’t let children do certain things because they are, well, children, and lack the capacity to fully understand their life altering choices, etc. But then something happened and the Dem party was dragged hard to the (I’m gonna say it) radical Left. I’m not even a big conservative, but I do agree with Republican valves which are basically mostly Dem values from as little as 15 years ago. My two cents
Wahhvacado
Wahhvacado - 9/28/2025, 11:49 AM
@Bucky74 - My point is what you are pointing to as dem values tend to be the extreme and not what the majority of them support, but you and many others are labeling the entire party as the extreme just as the left often does with the right. It is most definitely a spectrum to what people support. I would say this is a consequence of a two party system mixed with extreme divisiveness from leaders instead of focusing on what people agree on its all about fighting culture, which is sad and unproductive

I absolutely agree that Americans should come first but sadly that hasn't happened for many decades and both sides are absolutely to blame for that. And yeah we should focus on our own problems instead of making deals with other countries like Argentina for $20B

@Bucky74 - as an independent, can you fill me in on what the Republican Party believes in today? It used to be pro-capitalism, pro-sstates rights, limited federal government over reach, fiscal responsibility, pro-constitutional rights... so, what is it today? I'm genuinely curious.

@bobevanz - Are you nuts? How is disagreeing with removing a emote "fascist"?
Bucky74
Bucky74 - 9/28/2025, 12:54 PM
@Itwasme - Most of the same but add in America’s sovereignty, merit based color-blind hiring only (look only at qualifications), law and order and save neighborhoods where criminals are actually punished and sent to prison where tegu can’t harm others), fair practices in sports (keeping biological men out of women’s sports), tax breaks for ALL classes to stimulate the economy, blue collar workers (they now support most unions but are against things like the Teacher’s union, for example, having absolute power to indoctrinate, lower standards of excellence, and funnel money to a single party), deporting violent criminals, not allowing children to be sexualized and to make life altering choices or mutilate their bodies, and more. Many things that the Dems also fully supported before the party took a hard Left
Bucky74
Bucky74 - 9/28/2025, 12:58 PM
@WalletsClosed - It’s extreme brainwashing at work. Wyeth Left has conditioned a small but significant portion of the public that Nazi and fascist is anything you do not like. It’s a giant social experiment and they can get their followers to support literally anything including the genital mutilation of children as long as they dehumanize their opposition and make them Nazi’s. It’s Pavlovian conditioning on a grand scale

Looks like a certain comic book movie is on its way to being kicked out of the top ten.

@Forthas - anime will be the new CBMs. Over the years every comic con I've been to has become more about anime than comics.

DC and Marvel are offering absolutely nothing new at this point 👀 (especially the DCU being a watered down version of the MCU) the end is near 😮‍💨

@Forthas - “Fantastic” observation my guy. Demonstrates demon slayer was a real “thunderbolt” to the WW box office this year. It’s a “brave new world” we’re living in when an anime can be one of the top ten movies of the year.

Bucky74
Bucky74 - 9/28/2025, 12:36 PM
@Forthas - I didn’t hate Superman, but I was disappointed and found many of the choices Gunn made intentionally divisive (the political plot, the evil parents, the whiney man-child who needed “Soothing” making Terrific and Guy more fun to watch than Superman, etc). He’s launching a Universe, and while he dose t have to “play it safe” those choices were baffling and unnecessary, and worked against the film. It’s like no one was brave enough to give him script notes and call him out except Cornsweat (who was right in that behind the scenes clip, but overruled anyway).

@Bucky74 - Also, yes, Superman wa way underpowered and the way he defeated Ultraman was neither clever nor crowd pleasing. Screenwriting 101, if he’s going to say “Krypto get the toy” you need a scene beforehand with him playing with the dog and saying “Get the toy” to set that up and pay it off

WalletsClosed - 9/28/2025, 12:51 PM
@Bucky74 - If you want something mainstream and action oriented and a good starting point, i'd say Demon Slayer. I don't neccessarily like it because I find it to be incredibly generic but it's a pretty good starting point, entertaining enough, has amazing fight scenes and animation, and is pretty big.

I'd argue One Piece (my favorite) but it's incredibly long (over 1k episodes). I'd recommend using One Pace for that which removes all the filler
