DC fans in The UK and Ireland had to wait a little longer to check out Peacemaker, but James Gunn's bonkers The Suicide Squad spinoff is finally available to stream on Sky TV and NOW, and the filmmaker has been doing the rounds to promote its debut.
If you haven't seen the show yet, spoilers follow.
The season finale of Peacemaker featured cameo appearances from four members of the Justice League, with Ezra Miller and Jason Momoa reprising their respective roles as The Flash and Aquaman, and Wonder Woman and Superman played by stand-ins and kept in the shadows. While chatting to Total Film, Gunn revealed that he actually shot a lot of footage of the heroes that didn't make it into the episode.
"I have tons of stuff I didn't use," he said. "Ezra went on – and I'm not kidding – for 16 minutes about Aquaman having sex with fish. It was really funny."
Peacemaker has already been renewed for a second season, and Gunn also has another DCEU series in the works (he hasn't shared any details). While another appearance from the Justice League sounds unlikely, the director promises that more cameos are planned.
"I think we're going to see more connections in some other stuff as we move forward with Peacemaker and other shows at HBO Max. So those [cameos] will keep coming," Gunn teased. "I don't know if the Justice League is going to show up in every season of Peacemaker; that might be a one-time thing. We'll see!"
