PEACEMAKER Just Confirmed A Disturbing (And Gross) Fact About Green Arrow - SPOILERS

Today's season finale of Peacemaker confirmed that Green Arrow is part of the DC Extended Universe, though we're not sure Oliver Queen is a character worth spending time with after this shocking reveal...

Throughout the course of Peacemaker's first season, Christopher Smith has made a series of wild accusations about the DC Extended Universe's greatest heroes. Most of them come from what he's seen online, which is a way for writer and director James Gunn to poke fun at how misinformation and fake news is so easily spread across social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.

In today's finale, Peacemaker suggests rappelling across to the barn the Butterflies are using as a base, leading to Vigilante pointing out that it sounds like something Green Arrow would do.

"That dude goes to Brony conventions dressed as the back half of Twilight Sparkle with a four inches wide butthole drilled in the costume," a disgusted Peacemaker responds. While the rest of the team immediately start doubting his wild accusations, John Economos pipes up to say that, even though everything else he's come out with about the world's superheroes is nonsense, "I actually heard that's true about Green Arrow."

Man, what did poor Oliver Queen ever do to Gunn, eh?

We'd hazard a guess that the Star City vigilante probably isn't a Brony, but Enonomos does work for A.R.G.U.S., so he knows his stuff! This isn't the only Easter Egg in today's Peacemaker finale, of course, and you can check out those massive cameos by clicking here. Needless to say, we're hoping the recently announced season two will see Smith cross paths with even more heroes.

All episodes of Peacemaker are now streaming on HBO Max.

"That dude goes to Brony conventions with a four inches wide butthole drilled in the costume,"

this runs off the tongue better, imo. i know specificity is a pillar of comedy but Gunn gets a little too wordy with his jokes sometimes.

@dracula

I don’t think Edgar Wright wants to direct any of these movies.

That’s definitely not legit. The joke is that a credible person is actually agreeing with one of Peacemaker’s outlandish accusations for once.

I still can’t believe we are getting a Wonder Twins movie before a Green Arrow movie. For years, fans have been clamoring for a Green Arrow movie. WB/DC really doesn’t have a plan for their future movies.

@mgeoff88 - Well I mean, we have two wonder woman movies, two suicide squad movies and one aquaman movie before even hearing of a second Superman one, so...

@mgeoff88 - I can't believe we got a Green Arrow AND a Hawkeye show before we got literally any other character...

@mgeoff88 - Green Arrow got an 8 season broadcast series. Even if you don't like the show (and I'm not much of a fan for anything after the superb pilot), that's still a hell of a lot of Ollie media.

There are a lot of great characters who haven't gotten a movie or a fair shot at a series. Hell, we're talking about a Peacemaker show with at least a two season run. Good for him, but what does WB have against some of their great B and C-listers? That is the Question.

WB is like that kid in school who got picked on so much and is so unsure of himself, that he beats himself up just to get a laugh out of the cool kids. They do it with Green Lantern, Aquaman, now Green Arrow. They did it when they caved and threw together Whedon's JL just to be more like Marvel. WB needs to realize what makes DC great and start growing a spine, not degrading itself for lolz.

Or maybe someone just needs to tell James Gunn to cool it every once in awhile.

@Super12 - Why does making fun of, mostly, I think, new fictional traits even within the world, about fictional characters, mean they're unsure of themself?

Smh James Gunn needs to chill out with the gross humor. It would be one thing if it was actually funny but it’s not - it’s just contrived and dumb.

Okay...
I love Gunn but I'll say that: seeing Aquaman join in on the swear fest was kind of jarring to watch.
I'm foul mouthed myself but that just felt...off to me

James Gunn's formula: Write dirty joke and insert a popular DC character. So funny!

One of the reasons people like Gunn keep doing CBMs with Cheech & Chong, Police Academy series level of humor, is because it's much more risky to do CBMs that are serious. A serious CBM or Sci-Fi movie has to be written very well to be Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Spider-Man 1 & 2, Star Wars 4-5. But if a serious CBM or Sci-Fi movie is terribly written with psychology that doesn't make sense in the real world, it becomes The Dark Knight Rises, Snyderverse movies, Star Wars 1-3, 6-9 and it's crucified.

But if you establish that your movie's universe is comedy with very stupid characters, nothing has to add up. Characters can do anything and the creators get away with anything and are not held to a high standard.
