Hyper Powered Villain 'Vartox' Reportedly Cast In SUPERGIRL TV Series

An actor has been found to play Vartox, the hyper powered villain who once targeted Power Girl in a bid to get her to help him repopulate his home world. Could he have similar plans for Supergirl?

It looks like Melissa Benoist's Supergirl has another foe in her upcoming TV series as io9 reports that The Mentalist and Extant star Owain Yeoman has been cast as Vartox in the DC Comics adaptation. In the comic books, he's as powerful as Superman and can change his appearance at will. He once battled Power Girl in a bid to get her to help him repopulate his planet. However, "The New 52" has portrayed him as a sports broadcaster, and that seems like a more likely option in this series. The cast of Supergirl also includes Mehcad Brooks (Jimmy Olsen), Calista Flockhart (Cat Grant), Chyler Leigh (Alexandra “Alex” Danvers), David Harewood (Hank Henshaw), Faran Tahir (The Commander), Malina Weissman (Young Kara), Dean Cain and Helen Slater. Thoughts on the casting?

I'd prefer it if he wasn't a sports caster.

I wish they had made a Titans show to be connected to Arrow/Flash instead of this and the random Team up show. A white female superman isn't going to add diversity.

The team up show with Brandon Routh and the extras just seems like a way for the CW to hold onto these actors without losing them to other shows.

@Omega,

That's actually a good idea.
I imagined a Flashpoint where Barry was powerless, Wally was the Flash, and he, Vibe, Atom, Team Arrow and Firestorm were in a fight to the death against Killer Frost, Gorilla Grodd, and the Rogues; a final war that triggers the total destruction of Central City.

Hey, the reason why they chose to use Supergirl was because they didn't want to over expose Supeman, who is already involved in two film franchises (soon to be three).
