SUPERGIRL: Lex Luthor Has Big Plans In Two New Promos For Season 4, Episode 15: "O Brother, Where Art Thou?"

Lex Luthor (Jon Cryer) is coming to National City and it sounds like he has a pretty big agenda as he looks to exact his revenge on the Man of Steel (Tyler Hoechlin) and also deliver maximum damage to his cousin, the titular Girl of Steel (Melissa Benoist).

While Superman isn't expected to appear next week, it does look like he'll be making his way back to National City at some point during the final third of this ongoing fourth season to lend Kara a hand against his menacing archenemy.

"O Brother, Where Art Thou?" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-PG, V) (HDTV)

JON CRYER GUEST STARS AS ICONIC DC COMICS' VILLAIN LEX LUTHOR - Secretly furloughed from prison due to failing health, Lex Luthor (guest star Jon Cryer) visits his sister, Lena (Katie McGrath), to seek her help finding a cure. Savvy as ever, Lena is suspicious of Lex's motives but when she's faced with a life and death situation, she must decide how she truly feels about her brother. Meanwhile, Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and J'onn (David Harewood) face off against Manchester Black (guest star David Ajala). James' sister Kelly (guest star Azie Tesfai) comes to town. Tawnia Mckiernan directed the episode written by Derek Simon & Nicki Holcomb (#415). Original airdate 3/17/2019.

Season three saw Supergirl stop Reign and the other Worldkillers’ threat to humanity and our planet, and in the process, Kara was shocked to find her mother Alura alive and living in a salvaged Argo City that survived the destruction of Krypton. Reconnecting with her past caused Kara to realize that her true home is now here on Earth, where big changes are taking place for her and all of her friends in National City – and also, it appears, for a doppelganger in Russia! Season four promises to be full of surprises, action, adventure and lots of big revelations for Supergirl, Alex, James, J’onn, Lena and Brainy.

Supergirl features:
Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl
Mehcad Brooks as James 'Jimmy' Olsen/Guardian
Chyler Leigh as Alexandra 'Alex' Danvers
Jeremy Jordan as Winslow 'Winn' Schott
David Harewood as J'onn J'onzz/Martian Manhunter
Katie McGrath as Lena Luthor
Jesse Rath as Querl Dox/Brainiac 5
Sam Witwer as Ben Lockwood/Agent Liberty
Nicole Maines as Nia Nal/Dreamer
April Parker Jones as Colonel Haley
David Ajala as Manchester Black
Rhona Mitra as Mercy Graves
Robert Baker as Otis Graves
Erica Durance as Alura Zor-El

I thought tonight's episode was alright but not as good as last week's, which was a bit of a shame. It started out well, but I really wasn't a fan of the Elite getting taken down that quickly. Was really hoping the Elite as a group would play more of a role, and it seems that won't be happening. I also thought that how easily they got into the Fortress of Solitude was pretty stupid. Its the freaking fortress of solitude and you leave the key laying around in the snow?? (and those gloves that Hat put on looked like Ray's). And where was the Kryptonian robot? And the middle of the episode just wasn't as interesting.

That being said, the anti alien vs alien marches and the fight that broke out was done well, like how they showed both sides. Manchester Black was good again tonight, glad he is still out there. Lockwood was also good. Other highlight was Dreamer, maybe my favorite character of the episode- she was really fun and loved her enthusiasm being a hero.

And the big wtf moment- who shot James!?! Probably someone associated with Lex.

@HeavyMetal4Life - Lena or Eve. It's not Lockwood or Manchester because that's much too obvious and would be a letdown.

I’m so sad we couldn’t get a nice modern age lex Luthor in the movies.

@noahthegrand - Like who?

@noahthegrand - Eisenberg was a modern age Lex, and that was the problem. They leaned too heavily into the idea of "what would Lex be if he was shaped by the image of tech entrepreneurs of this era" rather than thinking "how would the tech industry of this era be reshaped if Lex Luthor was a shark in its waters?"

Their reimagining of Lex was misguided all be it kinda clever in concept. But it should have been tossed out upon inspection. It just dodnt work or translate as well as they hoped.

I for one dont need a modern age Lex. I just need a faithful Lex dropped unflinchingly and uncompromisingly into the modern world.

I had no idea what to think of the idea of the Two and a Half Men guy being cast as Lex Luthor, but based on this trailer, he might end up becoming the second best Live action Lex Luthor (Number 1 is Rosenbaum) (Number 1 Lex in all adaption is Clancy Brown)

Haven't seen the episode yet. I have to wait another couple hours till the CW app uploads it. But I skipped the comments and I'm glad Cryers Lex seems to be going over well. I was super skeptical, but I'm excited to check it out soon.

I'll come back and comment after I see it.

I also liked Clancy Brown doing the voice of Lex in the animated series.

The episode was quite good and also compelling when it got to the march. Highlight of the episode. Brainy got payback from Hat but I think it'll be a bit for naught cause Manchester still is wearing his Legion ring. Him being the one behind that pro-alien account was a good twist.

On one hand it seems The Elite is starting to stumble a little as Manchester's lowkey suicidal death wish to push his revolution isn't lining up with The Hat who is about more teamwork than striking first. Even though they fooled them at the Fortress making them think Manchester died their numbers are still shrinking because by the end only Manchester is the last Elite member standing.

Unless it's all ruse and he's now gonna break them all out from the DEO. If he keeps collecting more fancy tech in his coat he's gonna become Inspector Gadget because he has enough to do something. (And what was Winn's shield belt doing in the Fortress?)

The only plot hole I found in the Fortress scene was the lack of Kelex since it was there last week.

Nia is pretty fun as Dreamer, she's like an astral projector Shoker-like hero. It makes her very useful for long or mid-range distance. I think Kara should just come clean with Jimmy and let him about Nia being Dreamer because the first one she told about being transgender was him, he'll get it and be totally cool with it.

J'onn vs "Manchester" was an intense moment, but he pulled a little Prometheus-bait with the reveal of the CoL being in his place with that hologram. I hope J'onn stays as Martian Manhunter because Manchester has had enough opportunities to stand down and he was right, again, that he enjoys this now that he has an excuse with Fiona's death.

Eve says one thing at Catco to Jimmy about how everything's right with the L-Corp budget and the research but it's another story at the DEO.

Lena was boxing her feelings again near the end when Haley reminded her of Jimmy. She's gonna let them all out once she finds out what happened to him at the end.

It must've been Lex who sent someone to shoot at Jimmy. Not that he doesn't have enough reasons to have some enemies after foiling the CoL's plans to blow up that monument, digging in the budget and his photo from the rally that is soothing the waters of conflict etc.

So yep nice episode.

So now Supergirl has Superman's Nemesis? Does Superman do anything in this world except go on about how much better Supergirl is than him?
WarnerBrother
WarnerBrother - 3/11/2019, 2:12 AM
@nikgrid -

Superman doesn't have to prove anything to anybody. So he is being supportive of the closest relative
he has left in the universe and one who has come out of her shell. The actual public still treats Superman
as the greatest hero. The DEO Agents who know Supergirl, ignored her when she was standing side
by side with Superman.

Lex Luthor is going to still primarily hate Superman.
