The CW's Superman and Lois series has added Mad About You actress Sofia Hasmik in the recurring guest-star role of Chrissy Beppo, who works as a journalist at the Smallville Gazette.

Chrissy is described as having "a knack for saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. A go-getter with dreams of bigger and better things, a chance encounter with her idol changes her life trajectory." We're going to go ahead and assume her idol is Lois Lane!

Chrissy appears to be a character created for the show, but Silver Age Superman fans may recognize her last name. Beppo, or "Super-Monkey," was introduced in the pages of Superboy back in the late '50s. He stowed away on Kal-El's ship before going on to join the Legion of Super-Pets shortly after arriving on Earth.

We're assuming Chrissy won't turn out to be a super-powered Kryptonian monkey and the name is simply paying homage to The Man of Steel's furry friend, but you never know!

This new series will be a little different to previous Supes-centric shows, as the story will focus on Clark (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) raising a family and dealing with the "stress, pressures and complexities that come with being working parents in today’s society." Former Flash showrunner Helbing will executive produce the show with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Geoff Johns via Berlanti Productions.

Superman & Lois is set to premiere on The CW on 2021.

@dracula - Hell, you can just get Brad Garrett to reprise the role in live-action.

Off topic: I guess it turns out the She-Hulk casting rumors were false.

I just want to see the new suit first. I'll worry about the rest later.
