Fans of The Flash who have been around since season one have seen the show go many places, and take on many forms of Wells. With Harry, Sherloque, and HR as allies, it can be easy to forget that the very first Wells that was ever a part of the team was actually Eobard Thawne in disguise.

Now, after what felt like a very long seasonal arc, it looks like fans who were hoping to see the return of Thawne are about to get their wish.

Based on the way the story is set up, Barry really doesn't have many options, according to showrunner Todd Helbing.

With Barry, he hates Thawne for what he did to his family, but if it comes to stopping Thawne or saving thousands of people, he's a good guy, so he's always going to choose the better of two evils... sort of put his own personal vendetta aside and save other people.

That certainly sounds like the Barry Allen we have grown to know and love. Unfortunately for the Fastest Man Alive, he has been put in this horrible position by someone he loves more than anything in the world: his daughter.

We talked a lot about this when we were breaking the finale episode and the back half of the season. It felt like our characters, one way or the other, there's a lot of [consequences] for Barry, and for everybody else... I'll say this, there's probably more consequences one way or another than we've ever done on the show.

Does that mean character deaths, or could this be leading into some other sort of "crisis"?

There's a big thing in this episode that tees up the rest of the Crisis arc for next season. We've been laying Easter eggs the back half of this season, especially, but there's no way you're going to miss this one.

Wel, it looks like there's an awful lot to look forward to in this season finale of The Flash. Will you be tuning in?

@MaximusTheMad - it's based on Bourassa's designs, of course it looks crap. Bourassa can't hold a candle to Lee.

Barry will try to save the people but it seems Nora will try to stop somehow Thawne, it's the only way she can find some way to make amends for being played by him.

What to expect...someone on the team will feel like they can't get the job done, but the rest will pull together during the heat of the battle to give them a good ol' pep talk that just so happens to give them the confidence that they can, in fact, do the job. Most likely the same pep talk that's been given since season 1 and carried over in every episode since....

Still gonna watch it though ;)

Not a bad closer. Liked the Dearborn reference at the end.

I'm not quite clear how destroying the knife made Dawn vanish, so if anyone's got that one figured out do tell. All I can think is that after all that hassle Barry and Iris decide against having kids.

I liked it.
I couldn’t stand season 4 of Flash really in any capacity, I think this one was really jazzed up by having an iternation of Dawn who doesn’t exist in the actual flash storyline but that’s what alternate timelines are for.
And Idk if anyone noticed but Jessica Kennedy is actually older (34) then Grant Gustin (29) so her playing his 25 year old daughter was always absurd to me lol
But it’s always important to suspend disbelief, and as petulant as she was she and thawne made this season worth watching.
And at least she learned from her mistakes in the end, and hopefully so did the writers who write this damn thing lol
Can’t wait for crisis.
Should be a real hell on infinite Earths.

This season sucked but that finale was the Flash at it's best.

@TheDoctor1225- this week so far

1. Arrow (great)
2. Supergirl (pretty good)
3. Flash (alright/solid)
4. Legends (alright)

In terms of CW DC finales this year, my ranking so far:
1. Arrow (great)
2. Flash (alright/solid)
3. Black Lightning (meh) [can't even remember most of what happened in the BL finale]

Dayum, that shit had me in tears every week that's how good it was.

bring back Cold, Garrick, Firestorm & do flash stories.
dipping their toe in the lore, and borrowing scripts from General Hospital is rough.

The payoff of a season long Reverse-Flash tease was again, another tease and a 7 minute payoff scene.(arguably the highlight)

I love the flash, and as mentioned above by others, im watching out of habit.
Ill say it again, what qualifies a reporter/blogger to lead, or even be on
a team of super-heroes mixing it up?
Im not a fan of Felicity, and im not a fan of Flash-Felicity.
CW has a knack for tossing raisins into their potato salad, when they have a perfect recipe on the books.

Where we suppose to care about Nora? Cos she turned up, pissed and moaned all season and then all she really achieved was letting Thawne out. I mean if you really look into the final scene it may have even led to the Crisis being brought forward. Really weak finale but I’m still on board will all these shows building towards Crisis on Infinite Earths. Feels like it won’t just be the yearly cross over but will be the build off all the first half of the shows with the fall out being the later half of their seasons. At least that’s what I hope for

Just found out super late that this is where the reactions to the finale were being posted.

Ralph with that save at the beginning was cool and so was the effect that the mirror gun had on him.

Cicada II's plan to travel back to the pilot of the series to release the last vial of the virus on the night the particle accelerator created metas was an interesting concept that would've fitted well with the finale’s theme, it also would have fulfilled the annual time travel aspect that each final episode has. But I think they didn’t went with it because we had already visited it in the 100th episode so it did not went further than just planning it.

Shoutout to Kamilla for making things easier for Cisco, they are a good couple. 👌 (Still miss Gypsy and him though, plus they were comic accurate)

An underrated but personally my favorite moment from the ending of the Cicada plot was how Gracie’s mind didn’t just housed the memory of her uncle as the furious Cicada that passed on her all of his hatred but as well the loving, non-meta uncle Orlin that showed her love and did his best to raise her. Thought it was brilliant that it was him who stopped Cicada from harming Nora. Cicada must've been her defense mechanism but Orlin was her consciousness and morale compass, Cicada the devil & Orlin the angel that rests on her shoulder whispering what to do. A good posthumous wrap up on Orlin's arc.

The episode references what Barry considers his legacy to be (Nora and all the time they spent with her) but it also defined Gracie's by choosing to stop the killings in taking the cure.

The final struggle against Grace was decently intense with the reveal that her shard on her head countered the cure's effect on her past self leaving them with no choice but to destroy the dagger along with her since she still had that piece from the satelite inside. Bless Cisco for the quick breach to let Barry use the mirror gun on it.

And just like that, Flash fixed his legacy (in a way) by finally and for real
stopping Cicada for good. ✌️

Thawne's scene were rewarding but it was more so when Nora rewinded time to stop him from killing the guards, Team Flash prepared a lot for both Cicada and Thawne.

The speedsters’ battle was good, been a while since we saw the speed mirages in action.

Team Flash assembling and saying “catch these hands” to Thawne was amazing, damn, they bodied him with that coordinated teamwork. Cisco once again the MVP as Vibe with all those breaches opening everywhere. And that father-daughter infinite mass punch on Thawne? I stan. 💪

Nora made the right choice in the end and the most mature one by not choosing to cheat her death. The performances there were great. Barry and Iris just went through the worst pain parents can experience and unlike in Endgame, she is gone forever. Until she is born of course, but still, that was dark.

Thawne must know about CoIEs, his wording can’t be accidental. Just like he knew the timeline would change thanks to destruction of the dagger and actually as well stopping earlier Cicada.

I liked Sherloque's farewell, but can’t help but notice that he basically exited without paying them all the money he owed to them that he spent in the 3rd episode? XD Glad he got to reunite with Irene on his Earth and that he got to live, it means that they can always bring him back for anything.

Joe looked so dapper as the new Captain of CCPD and that shot with Cecile by his side was great.

Singh revealing he knew Barry was Flash felt natural.

I don’t thikk Cisco is off the show, just no longer Vibe. I have yet to see any news outlet that confirms Carlos Valdes' exit so until that changes I say he will remain in the show and helping them just like he did in Season 1 and Season 2. They might plan to introduce this Sebastian Ollins character that he mentioned before to make them face against each other: genius vs genius.

I wanted to see the new Killer Frost suit, what a tease. 😭

Ralph's new case will get him to meet with his one and only, Sue Dearborn.

Barry and Iris are so gonna watch over and over Nora's message until the day comes when she’s born in the present. But since the timeline changed again and they canonized the headline from S3 about Joe becoming the Captain of CCPD then I am sure that they are gonna end up having twins like in the comics: Dawn/Nora and Don, which will fulfill Barry’s mumbling words from S4 about “needing more diapers”.

Can’t wait for CoIEs later this year.
