THE FLASH: Brandon McKnight & Kayla Compton Both Upped To Series Regulars For Season 7

Even though The Flash is off this week, we still have big news about the show, as it's being reported that both Brandon McKnight and Kayla Compton have been promoted to series regulars for season seven!

Deadline is reporting that current recurring guest stars Brandon McKnight (Chester P. Runk) and Kayla Compton (Allegra Garcia) have been upped to series regulars for the upcoming seventh season of The CW's hit superhero drama The Flash, which stars Grant Gustin in the title role.

McKnight and Compton made their debuts at the beginning of this season and have appeared in three and eight episodes, respectively. Both of their characters were also recently made official members of Team Flash - which essentially foreshadowed this latest development - and will likely have bigger roles to play moving forward as this ongoing sixth season sets up its final run of episodes.

Now, with the addition of two new faces to the main roster, it's definitely fair to wonder whether any of the original cast will be departing the series after this current season, and there are, of course, some possibilities. But if we're lucky and there happens to be no turnover at all, then everyone, including the aforementioned Gustin (Barry Allen/Flash), Candice Patton (Iris West-Allen), Danielle Panabaker (Caitlin Snow/Frost), Carlos Valdes (Cisco Ramon/Vibe), Hartley Sawyer (Ralph Dibny/Elongated Man), Danielle Nicolet (Cecile Horton), Tom Cavanagh (Nash Wells) and Jesse L. Martin (Joe West), should all be back for more.

"Death of the Speed Force" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-PG, LV) (HDTV)

WALLY WEST SPEEDS BACK INTO CENTRAL CITY - Kid Flash (guest star Keiynan Lonsdale) returns to Central City with a Zen attitude and new tricks up his sleeve. While thrilled to see his family again, Wally confides to Barry (Grant Gustin) that he returned because he thinks there is something wrong with the speed force. Meanwhile, Cisco (Carlos Valdes) returns from his fact-finding mission across Earth-Prime. Brent Crowell directed the episode written by Sam Chalsen & Emily Palizzi Gilbert (#614). Original airdate 3/10/2020.

Matching wits with The Thinker, who by season’s end had harnessed the powers of all twelve bus metas he created, stretched Team Flash to their limits, but with the help of some new allies, Barry Allen (aka The Flash) and company were able to put a stop to the Enlightenment and save Central City once again. However, with the arrival of Barry and Iris’ speedster daughter, Nora, who arrived from the future admitting to having made a “big mistake,” things are anything but status quo. Will parenthood be the challenge that finally slows The Flash down?

The Flash features:
Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/The Flash
Candice Patton as Iris West-Allen
Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost
Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon/Vibe
Tom Cavanagh as Dr. Harrison Wells
Jesse L. Martin as Detective Joe West
John Wesley Shipp as Henry Allen/Jay Garrick
Michelle Harrison as Nora Allen
Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West/Kid Flash
Violett Beane as Jesse Quick
Danielle Nicolet as Cecille Horton
Hartley Sawyer as Ralph Dibny/Elongated Man
Sendhil Ramamurthy as Dr. Ramsey Rosso/Bloodwork

The Flash returns with an all-new episode on March 10

Ehh, I think Chester is best in small doses. And Allegra hasn't made that big of an impact imo.

@HeavyMetal4Life - Yeah need a bit more of Chester to decide, really he has only been in 2 or 3 episodes, and only 1 of those had him in a decent sized role. Allegra is okay, hopefully she gets something good to do. Wonder if someone is leaving at the end of the season, it's felt like they have been setting up possible Cisco exits for a while, like maybe Carlos Valdes hasn't been sure about staying or something, like back in season 4 when Breacher offered him a job on his earth, getting rid of his powers at the end of last season, now him leaving for a while. Joe hasn't had much to do, so maybe him. Flash has managed to keep ahold of their season 1 cast longer than any of the other shows, only one that isn't there is Eddie, and that was a writing decision

@Krav - Eventually some are going to have to leave, i'd say Cecile and Joe seem the most likely, jessie l martin couldn't do much in season 4 and not sure if he still has some back problems, but even now he hasn't done much. Seems like Cisco has been possibly leaving since season 4

I don't watch The Flash anymore, but just from a narrative standpoint... If they're gonna add new characters, then they should drop some old ones. Otherwise, it's just a mess.

Larger Team Flash like larger Team Arrow? It's like these shows follow the same template.

@RageDriver2401 - they do. Even the story build up each episode follows a straight and predictable format. I’m going to stop watching if this season doesn’t get any better.

@X75 - I stopped watching after Crisis. Very low quality drama. It's like a bad soap opera.

Let Joe, Cecile and Nash (Maybe Cisco, he's so boring since he left his powers) go. I love Joe and Tom Cavanaugh, but I would love to see more of Ralph development as Elongated Man and Sue. Actually I would watch a TV Show Action/Comedy with Ralph.

Chester didn't start with the right foot exactly with his over-the top excited energy but if they can keep grounding him like they did in the final scenes with Barry last week he could become a good asset to STAR Labs. Now of course there is the debate of "is he going to replace Cisco" going on and I doubt we'll have a clear answer until May.

I do hope that we can somehow keep Cisco around if he chooses to go back to being Vibe somehow (maybe when he helps out Nash deals with his "crisis of infinite Wells" that he has going on in his head it could kick start his arc to recover his powers) because his powers will always be useful (like in Crisis) while Chester fully takes over as their tech guy and manages the coms at STAR Labs. Best of both worlds there. Unless Chester is suppose to re-develop his black hole powers somehow as take over as the "Vibe" type of meta to the team.

Allegra on the other hand always had a bit more going for her because she refused to be defined by her delinquent life and always wants to help in the Citizen team plus she's also a meta and can be useful for the good guys in contrast to how Ultraviolet is for bad guys. And she has a father-daughter bond with Nash too, there is something endearing there and that can pull on viewers in the way Joe-Iris is a family bond that works.

The question is who would Allegra fill in for? Caitlin? Depends on Danielle Panabaker and her pregnancy and due date IMO.

Or heck, would Chester and Allegra even replace anyone and actually are just being officially welcomed to be part of the cast? It's always a slim possibility.

To finish, I am expecting Sue Dearbon to also become a regular to keep developing her story alongside Ralph. I'm not against that.

But dang it I do wished Keiynan Lonsdale could return as series regular if they have done a good job with Wally post Crisis. Or heck Jay. But beggars can't be choosers.

This show needs to kill off 3/4 of the supporting characters....not adding them. Barry barely gets any screen time as it is.
