TITANS Season 3: Check Out A First Look At Barbara Gordon And Dr. Jonathan Crane, A.K.A. Scarecrow

The first trailer for season three of Titans is expected to arrive a little later today, but in the meantime, we have a new look at the series courtesy of Entertainment Weekly

The site reports that the first three episodes will all debut at the same time on HBO Max on August 12, with subsequent instalments launching every Thursday. That's exciting news, of course, and so too are these shots of Savannah Welch as Barbara Gordon and Vincent Kartheiser as Dr. Jonathan Crane.

"Think Hannibal Lecter," showrunner Greg Walker says of the latter. "He's been given the opportunity to opine on ways to stop villains, and a villain breaks out in Gotham and it draws [Dick Grayson] to work with him."

As for what we can expect from the former Batgirl turned Gotham City Commissioner, he adds: "Barbara's feeling is that the legacy of Bruce and Jim has been this idea that she thinks is antiquated and inefficient: the God syndrome, meaning that superheroes create the situation where they're the heroes. They drop in on a situation, solve it, and then they leave."

"[She] feels that basically disempowers people from solving their own problems and that the people of Gotham need to figure out how to solve their own problems and not be passive victims waiting for a superhero to save the day."

Between this and the debut of Red Hood, there's certainly going to be a lot happening in season three of Titans, and it should be interesting to see how the series manages to balance all those different elements. Fans have been disappointed by certain aspects of the show in the past, but with so much from the comic books finding its way into this batch of episodes, it should be a fun ride.

It's gonna get cancelled after this.

@Killuminatic - I fear so aswell if they don't manage to get the audience this season. Pity, the show clearly had/has potential, but trying too hard to be overly dark. one thing's for sure though, it's no CW show.

costumes looks a but better this time around.

Why are there so many iterations of different characters?

Damn Matt Reeve’s had it tough.

@Se4M4NSt4ine - this guy aged really bad… Compared to when he was in Mad Men. I know he’s done up here, but even recent pics are far from flattering.

I guess an interesting take on How Barbara would feel but not sure it is realistic for the character considering what she had previously been through and who put her in that wheelchair.

@Mugens - yeah it feels a little too pessimistic in my opinion.

@Mugens - It’s more or less in line with Batman Beyond but the “we don’t need Batman” take has always been wild to me for a world where Two-Face might blow up a school literally any day. Also, Jim still believing in the police I get. But I would think Babs has seen enough GCPD corruption and ineffectuality to make her not wanna join up with them.

How old is Babs here? Like 30? Super young for commissioner.

''Between this and the debut of Red Hood, there's certainly going to be a lot happening in season three'''

Oh, and don't forget the Raven goes to Themiscyra and the Starfire and Blackfire storylines. This is gonna be one packed season (and I'm not sure they can pull it off).

Anyway, that character description of Barbara sucks. But I guess the pessimism fits the dark and edgy thing the show is going for.

It could still work though, because Vision said the same thing and still wasn't boring or didn't say superheroes aren't there to stand up for those who can't

I actually really like this show & it has a bunch of potential but the writing is definitely lacking in the storytelling department especially when it comes to season finales. Both season 1 & season 2 finales we’re atrocious and left me infuriated. But I like the actors they picked for the most part and love the costumes and violence.Hopefully they tweak it a little bit and fans give it more love this season

Barbara has a missing leg? But she was shop in the stomach by the Joker. Crane is a chubby guy? But his literal names is Scarecrow. Should be a tall, slender guy.

@micvalpro - "But she was shop in the stomach by the Joker."

Sure, in the comics. Lets wait and see what happened in this universe.

Even Teen Titans Go has a better team element than this show. This is such as letdown. Take a drink every time they visit Gotham or mention Gotham. Season 1 had promise for the team to work together but then writers decided they were bored with Trigon story arc and wanted more silly crap such as sending Dick to jail for a day.

Hope it's more in line with S1 because S2 was all over the place.

@Nightwing1015 - More lows than highs for me, but the Superboy plot was well done imo.

@ModHaterSLADE - Yeah don't get me wrong, season 2 still sucked on the whole. But there were great elements to it. Deathstroke, the story of the original Titans, Superboy, and Jason of course.

@BlackBeltJones - If you can sit through "The Inhumans" which I did for some masochistic strange reason, you can sit through anything believe me.

synopsis sounds ok ... but a 30yr commissioner is a leap... even for a super hero show....

Please for the love of god just be poor lighting that makes her hair look brown. If I’ve got a red head Stephanie Brown, a brunette Barbara Gordon and whatever the [frick] they done with Cassandra Cain in BoP all within two years then holy [frick] DC doesn’t care about the Batgirls
