GAME OF THRONES: Emilia Clarke Admits To Being "Annoyed" By The Show's Series Finale

Game of Thrones' final episode (and season) was definitely divisive, and now Emilia Clarke has admitted to being annoyed by how things played out in the HBO series. Find out more details after the jump...

Ever since Game of Thrones showrunner David Benioff and DB Weiss no longer had George R.R. Martin's books to turn to for the HBO series, they've made creative decisions which have proved to be divisive among fans. They were supposedly following the author's blueprint, of course, but the final year definitely didn't play out how most viewers wanted.

That was particularly the case with the series finale, and "Bran the Broken" ending up on the (melted) Iron Throne wasn't something anyone seemed to be rooting for beforehand.

Now, Emilia Clarke has reflected on how things ended for Daenerys Targaryen, and it sounds like she was disappointed with both her character's fate and the fact Jon Snow got something of a happy ending after killing his cousin and the woman he claimed to love.

"Yeah, I felt for her. I really felt for her," the actress explains. "And yeah, was I annoyed that Jon Snow didn’t have to deal with something? He got away with murder — literally."

We've not really heard much from the cast regarding how they felt about Game of Thrones' ending, but there were definitely some controversial decisions, and it wouldn't be surprising for a lot of them to be unhappy with where they ended up after spending years playing these heroes and villains.

What did you guys think about how things ended for Daenerys in Game of Thrones?

I agree the ending wasn't the greatest and hopefully the book when ever it comes out will be better.

I personally found out about the ending because of Hobbs and Shaw. I made sure never to go anywhere spoilers would be and yet a movie spoiled it for me.

I don't have HBO, so I always waited until it came out on home video and throughout the whole series I never found out something I shouldn't have, until I watched it myself, but of course I found out the ending, because of a movie from a different movie studio.

@BlackIceJoe - that actually kind of sucks man. I haven't seen Hobbs so didn't know they spoiled it in that movie. But I feel for you

@Vigor - Thanks, I was surprised when they said a major spoiler about GoT out of nowhere and dropped it so casually like everyone had already seen the final season.

@inkniron - Well with the Coronavirus and people staying home, now he has all the time to finish it, because he'll be in his house.

The writers “kind of forgot” that actions have consequences.

Ah yes, 2019, the year of disappointing conclusions to popular franchises, that I didn't bother to watch due to how little I'd already enjoyed what came directly before.

And Endgame.

Worse than the treatment of Daenerys and Jon was how they took a dump on 5 years of character development between Jaime and Brienne. At least Daenerys was sort of a loose unit all along, but Jaime actually had a character arc.

@FleischerSupes - I actually disagree with the Jaime criticism, mainly because Cersei was (allegedly) pregnant with his child. Realistically, can anybody really argue with his character motivation? I don't think so.

It's always weird to see writers fumble at the end like that. They get so obsessed with shock value & controversy, that they end up betraying character arcs, and upsetting loyal fans. It's very much troll culture, infiltrating storytelling.

The tension of Daenarys potentially being slowly corrupted by power, is all that was needed. And then you show her snap out of it, and claim the Iron Throne. No way in hell she should've actually lost her morality. Jon Snow should've died a heroic death.
