Cersei has worked her way to Joffrey level suckage for me. Only saving grace is that she is smoking hot.

Jaime and Tyrion are the best characters on the show.

If Tyrion ever dies, I'll snatch his soul to Asgård and give the job to him.

My favorite characters:

1) Tyrion. Dinklage simply OWNS that role.
2) Jamie. It's incredible how much that character's grown since Season 1. He used to be that ridiculous douche who threw an innocent kid out a window. Now he's completely sympathetic and badass. But the incest stuff is still gross, of course.
3) Tywin. He's an irredeemable bad guy, I know. But Charles Dance has insane amounts of talent, and every line he speaks drips with menace and sarcasm.
4) Arya. She's quite possibly the ONLY smart Stark in the entire family. She's perfectly cast, and Maisie Williams is one of the best child actors around.
5) Varys. His debates with Littlefinger are legendary, but at least Varys has some morals and is actively looking out for the good of the realm. Littlefinger is just a monster.

Of course Tyrion is a boss and the coolest character on the show but I like Jaime he is actually quite a deep characters and save his incestuous relationship with Cersi is one of my favorite characters on the show and in the books. This line is one of my favorites of his

"Jaime reached for the flagon to refill his cup. "So many vows...they make you swear and swear. Defend the king. Obey the king. Keep his secrets. Do his bidding. Your life for his. But obey your father. Love your sister. Protect the innocent. Defend the weak. Respect the gods. Obey the laws. It's too much. No matter what you do, you're forsaking one vow or the other.”"

Then later in the 3rd season and the 3rd book, I know they are done differently and at different places, when he tells Brienne of when he killed the king and how he was going to burn the city and all those in it to kill his enemies. How when Ned found him he told no one because who would believe the Kingslayer. All great stuff and that is why he is one of my favorite characters.

pesmerga44, Wow I didn't realize Jamie's line about oaths was pretty much taken word for word from the book. That was a great scene.

My favorite scene with Jamie was the one where he explains to Brienne what happened during the Sack of King's Landing. Both actors sold it so incredibly well. You could feel Jamie's loathing of Ned Stark, how he HATES that people keep calling him Kingslayer when he basically saved everybody's lives...such a deep, emotional scene that really sheds some light on his past. Great stuff.

@sauronsBANE1

You are right that Tywin is awesome while still being such a complete and utter bastard. It really is Charles Dance performance that makes me like him so much while he is cool in the books I wouldn't like him near as much if it weren't for Dance's performance.

Potential spoilers so you may wish to advert you gaze

@Sauron

Does the "All Men Die" imply the Walkers will play a bigger role? I've immersed myself very much in asoiaf and theories lately, stuff like the Night King, RL=J, the whole Lord of Light/Great Other prophecy, Azor Ahai, the Prince that was promised, etc.

Robb was a [frick]ing retard towards the end of the Northern campaign. I mean... SERIOUSLY?

@MAC

Ya seriously his mother warns him about the Walder Frey and the guy looks like he would have no problem stabbing you in the back. Yet no you gotta marry for love and all that shit when you are trying to beat the Lannisters really I did not feel bad when Robb was killed because the guy was an idiot.

SauronsBANE - 2/25/2014, 11:55 AM
@MAC, It certainly could mean that. But personally, I don't think we'll be getting a big payoff on the whole White Walker storyline for at least another season or 2.

I'm taking Valar Morghulis to mean that there's going to be plenty of large-scale, game-changing events taking place in this season, especially in King's Landing. And yeah, I'm thinking that quite a few main characters are going to be dying. Plus, it's such a kick-ass line to be attached to this upcoming season haha.

I absolutely agree about Robb. First he screws Walder Frey over and marries Talisa, then he loses his most valuable hostage in Jamie Lannister, then he kills Rickard Karstark and loses half his men as a result, comes crawling back to Walder Frey as if nothing happened...and basically got what was coming to him unfortunately. He was a master at warfare on the battlefield (never lost a battle, if I remember correctly), but he just couldn't play the game politically for the life of him.

@pesmerga44, I've heard a lot of book readers say they prefer the TV version of Tywin. Dance portrays him with so many layers. He really feels like a real, 3 dimensional character. And his scenes with Arya in the previous season for incredible. She brought out this whole new side to Tywin, I was sad when the show broke that up and had them go their separate ways.

My favorite Tywin scene would be in the 1st season, when he monologues to Jamie while he's cutting up and gutting that deer. Masterful acting. And it really sets up what kind of character Tywin is from the start. Really great scene, IMO.

They could of simply payed Frey some gold to cross the twins into King's Landing and back again. I also love the theory about Roose have ties to the Others.

I loved the Tywin/Jaime scene in Season One. A perfect introduction to him. We hear about Tywin throughout the entire Season, we see him and we're like "wait... is that-??" and... ah, great introduction. And the way Tywin reprimanded Jaime was how a father would.

As I am currently studying the War of the Roses it's awesome making all these cool parallels:

Robb Stark is a young Edward IV. Great battle commander, inspiring, never lost a battle... sucks at politics and making stupid mistakes which cost him dearly.

Robert Baratheon is older (40's) Edward IV, well past his battle days a indulgences in fattening foods, wine and sex before dying suddenly.

Eddard Stark is Lord William Hastings, a great friend of the King (Edward IV) who gets betrayed and publicly executed without little to no warning.

Rhaegar Targaryen reminds of Richard III; both are demonized heavily for only one thing they both SUPPOSEDLY did throughout their lives (supposedly kidnapping and raping Lyanna Stark for Rhaegar. Supposedly killing his nephews in secret for Richard III) though had redeeming qualities and died on the battlefield against their mortal enemy. Both fought bravely, both fought honorably and both died.

Cersi, like Margaret of Anjou or Margaret Beaufort, is a bit of a bitch.
