SOLO Actress Emilia Clarke Suggests That The GAME OF THRONES Series Finale Is Going To Be Divisive

We still haven't seen anything from next year's wildly anticipated final season of Game of Thrones, but Emilia Clarke reckons that when season 8 does eventually arrive, some fans may be disappointed...

No series finale has ever managed to satisfy everyone, but some do manage to pull off the near-impossible task of giving the majority of their fans an ending they're happy with.

Will Game of Thrones be one of 'em?

The HBO fantasy drama series is easily one of the most popular shows of all time, and the enormous weight of fan expectations means it's inevitable that events won't play out the way that some die-hard Westeros aficionados want them to - but could it wind up being more divisive than we're anticipating?

During a new interview, Solo: A Star Wars Story actress Emilia Clarke suggested that the finale is sure to split opinion. "People will scream and people will say, 'That's exactly what I wanted'," the Daenerys Targaryen star told the Herald Sun. "And some people will go, 'Huh?' – my mum, probably."

This is not the first time a Game of Thrones cast member has hinted at a highly divisive finale, so it's probably best to keep an open mind!

Tell us, how do you think the show will end?

@MrDandy - Ah, I didn't hate it or anything but I didn't like the flash-forward gimmick.. even though I get that it was totally in keeping with the show.

Let it in with an all out epic battle with the Night King and not a battle with Cersei. Cersei needs to take the threat of the Night King Seriously.

@krayzeman - Why? Song of Ice and Fire was about diverting expectations of traditional fantasy trope. Having it turn into a group of good guys fighting off an evil dark lord and his minions wouldn't really be in the spirit of the novels.

Also Cersei is an actual, you know, character unlike the Night King who is more a force of nature. I'm more interested in the former.

@MrDandy - you would have a point if they hadn’t set the show story up with the white walkers as the ultimate threat, not Cersei. Like you said the Night King is more a force of nature EVERYONE should be concerned about because it’s about the survival of the people. I look at Cersei as the “bad guy” so in my eyes that would fall into your good guy vs. bad guys ending to me as far as tropes.

Hopefully no one gets the Iron Throne.

The Iron Throne is the one ring of the series. It is symbolically representative of the corruptive power of ambition. The only correct ending would be for it to be melted down.

Gosh im so tired of divisive endings. Last Jedi brought on such a shit storm and last season of Game of Thrones was pretty divisive for me (i didnt like how rushed and absurd the conflicts were). Why cant we just have a crowd pleaser? I'll let GRRM rip my heart out with a divisive ending to the books.

kaethar - 5/8/2018, 9:06 PM
@JH24 - What would be a "crowd pleaser" though? The point is that people want different endings, so some people are sure to leave disappointed.
EnergyVamp
EnergyVamp - 5/9/2018, 5:35 PM
@kaethar - ending of Avengers 1, Breaking Bad, Ready Player One. An ending where a majority of critics and fans enjoyed the ending.

Last Jedi got millions of videos and articles talking about how it ruined star wars. I dont need tons of videos and articles about how Dave and Dan ruined Game of Thrones.

I also loved the L.O.S.T finale.
