Quite a lot happened on last night's episode of Game of Thrones, but one development in particular seems to have caused a bit of confusion. Towards the end of the ep, we see Arya spy on Littlefinger as he hides a mysterious scroll in his chambers. A spot of expert lock-picking later and the youngest Stark girl has read the contents - although we only get a brief glimpse of it.

Even still, it was enough to discern that the scroll was written by Sansa, and what it says may well drive a wedge between the two sisters.

Although this hasn't been 100% confirmed, the prevailing theory is that the scroll is the one Sansa wrote to Robb, pleading with him - under duress - to surrender to The Lannisters and bend the knee. Though Sansa was basically forced to write the note, it may still serve to set Arya against her older sis - something Littlefinger is only too aware of.

Will the Stark girls find out that they've been manipulated before too much damage is done? Be sure to share your theories in the usual place.

That part of the episode pissed me off last night

I hate these "misunderstands" used as plot. HATE IT!

@ODanil - I thought the scroll was the one she sent Rob telling him to come bend the knee to Cersei. While Sansa was married to Joffrey

@SonOfAGif - Sansa was never married to Joffrey.

@Chameleon - I don't think it'll be with Needle. Probably that Valyrian Steel dagger that Bran was reluctant to give her a few episodes ago.

they will figure out they are being manipulated my little finger and have him executed for betraying their father. I'm sure this season will be the last we see of little finger.

Such a solid episode last night, and sad because we only have two episodes left!

I'm gonna be sad when Littlefinger dies. Say what you will about him, but he's an excellent [frick]ing character.

This is one of those times were I hate the charcter littelfinger and want to see him die bad, but the actor Aidan Gillen plays the hell out of the charcter and is a really good actor so it will be sad to see him leave the show.

I heard spoilers for episode 6 and if they are true, it could very well be the best episode yet. I cannot wait for this Sunday. The previews look like they back up the rumors so far.

@Invasion96 -

Unlikely, honestly the final episodes sounded underwhelming compared to the previous season ending with the deaths of multiple important characters and Cersei taking control.

Pretty sad that a character like Littlefinger is being phased out of the show like this. He is essentially one of the brightest minds and strategists in Westeros yet he has been reduced to playing sibling children against each other. Call it nitpicking but I just feel that the character deserves better.

@BlackHulk - But that'll be the irony/tragedy of his character. He started the whole mess because he was being greedy and ambitious. He's gone up against the likes of Cersei and Ned yet his downfall (hopefully) will be the daughters of the woman he loved. He's becoming cocky and too sure of himself and we know how that ends, just ask poor Oberyn.

@BlackHulk - totally agree. A season or two ago I'd have said Littlefinger would be the main villain at the end that they'd have to take out, and he'd have a mastermind plot that had been in place for ages that nobody had a clue about. But you're right he's gone small time. The way I'd have ended things is have Littlefinger use his position close to Dany and Jon/Sansa to plant wildfyre from cersei at dragonstone while visiting with jon's crew, and set it off to kill two of her dragons after they leave, and plant evidence that it was Jon who did it. Then Dany and her dothraki would attack the north, who would be forced to fight back not knowing whats going on. They wipe out half of each others armies before they figure out what's happened. Meanwhile Littlefinger has pissed off to King's Landing where Cersei has agreed to marry him for his service (or make him hand). He has the top spot alongside the throne, and Jon and Dany are left with half their armies and only one dragon to fight both Cersei and the White Walkers. Boom, Littlefingered.

Things are just shaping up to be a little 'good vs evil' for Game of Thrones for my liking. I feel like Cersei and the Walkers will both be easy to beat, whereas if Littlefinger had [frick]ed everyone, it would have made things far more exciting. I mean they've got a mountain of dragonglass that kills white walkers, and [frick]ing Sam killed one with that. A whole army armed with it and they're screwed. Plus valyrian steel kills them too and half the main characters have valyrian weapons now. Then add a couple of dragons that breathe fire, which kills the dead? They got no chance. Then they've justgot cersei on her lonesome.

@connorblaze - Unless Cersei finds a way to find an ally in the army of the dead? I mean she is evil incarnate

I'm ready for Littlefinger, Arya, and Sansa to all die. Wrap up the ancillary plot points and focus on the two wars.

Littlefinger is actually being very stupid here. I mean, even if his plan works, what does it accomplish for him? Ideally he wants Sansa as Queen of The North, but how does setting Arya against her get him any closer to that? Unless he has other motivations that haven't been made clear yet. Either way, I think Arya is WAY more clever than he realises and will find out what he's up two once she speaks to Sansa.
Evansly
Evansly - 8/14/2017, 9:48 AM
@RorMachine - I agree, however both Arya and Sansa are overly emotional and may blow this up way more than it needs to. Arya and Sansa have always had a strained relationship and it will likely bring up those old feelings, making that existing wedge bigger. Although I can't see it lasting too long either way.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 8/14/2017, 10:03 AM
@Evansly - Okay, but even if that happens, what is the best case scenario for Baelish? I just don't see how the sisters feuding - or worse - makes his position any stronger, and actually only puts him in more danger if they find him out of if Jon returns and smells a rat.
BlackHulk
BlackHulk - 8/14/2017, 10:10 AM
@RorMachine - Exactly what I meant in a related article when I complained about this seasons writing. Littlefinger's intelligence and cunning ability has sharply declined since season one while Cersei went from the vindictive bimbo in season one to an experienced brilliant strategists without having any direct experience or counseling to help her achieve that milestone.
Evansly
Evansly - 8/14/2017, 10:11 AM
@RorMachine - I agree, it is definitely hard to see how this might come out his way. Especially with Bran and Winterfell who can clear any of these arguments very easily. Regardless life got a lot more complicated for him with the return of Arya and Bran and I don't really see him making it through the season.
Evansly
Evansly - 8/14/2017, 10:14 AM
@RorMachine - I also think that Littefinger greatly overestimates how Sansa views him. When Sansa was talking to Bran about the dagger it did actually surprise me how she warned Bran that he likely had ulterior motives.
GhostSurfer
GhostSurfer - 8/14/2017, 10:21 AM
@RorMachine - Best case scenario for Little Finger is probably Sansa and Arya arguing, leading to Arya leaving Castle Black, and Jon being pushed out in favor of Sansa.

Now, obviously, none of that will happen lol.
BlackConvoy
BlackConvoy - 8/14/2017, 10:26 AM
@RorMachine - The best case scenario is to get Arya to leave. It's clear that she's not cool with what looks like Sansa positioning herself backstabbing Jon. Arya is also suspicious of Littlefinger. He knows that he's limited in just how much he can manipulate her. He's probably deduced that she's an assassin, and that if she wants to, can take him out. So he can't risk Sansa and Arya being united.

That's not saying that it's a smart plan.
