The upcoming Game of Thrones prequel series has added Miranda Richardson to its cast, although her role remains a mystery for now.

The Academy Award-nominated British actress will join previously announced series regulars Naomi Watts, Josh Whitehouse, Naomi Ackie, Denise Gough, Jamie Campbell Bower, Sheila Atim, Ivanno Jeremiah, Georgie Henley, Alex Sharp and Toby Regbo.

George R.R. Martin recently suggested that the title of the show would be "The Long Night," but that's since been refuted by HBO. All we do know about the series is that it'll be set thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones, and will focus on The Age of Heroes leading into the origins of The White Walkers.

Kick-Ass writer Jane Goldman is on board as showrunner, while S.J. Clarkson (Star Trek, Jessica Jones) will direct the pilot.

Check out the official synopsis below, along with a series of character posters for the final season of Game of Thrones.

“Taking place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones, the series chronicles the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. And only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’s history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend… it’s not the story we think we know.”

Just started season 5 of my series rewatch. Definitely going to finish last season the day of the final season's premiere. Can't believe it will actually come to an end after ten years and George R.R. Martin still hasn't finished Winds of Winter. Seriously, who would have thought that was even possible ten years ago while sitting down to watch the series premiere?
