GAME OF THRONES Spinoffs Based On The Sea Snake, Princess Nymeria & Flea Bottom In The Works

We were told that HBO was in the process of developing several Game of Thrones spinoffs back when House of the Dragon was first announced, and we finally have some idea of what these shows will focus on - if they ever see the light of day, that is.

According to Deadline, the ideas for a trio of projects set in George R.R. Martin's fantasy world of Westeros currently being discussed are 9 Voyages, aka Sea Snake, Flea Bottom, and 10,000 Ships.

9 Voyages, which is said to be furthest along, has Rome creator Bruno Heller on board and follows Lord Corlys Velaryon, aka The Sea Snake, the Lord of the Tides and head of House Velaryon. Steve Toussaint will play the character in House of the Dragon

The other two projects don't have creative teams attached: 10,000 Ships "revolves around the warrior queen Princess Nymeria, a revered ancestor of House Martell who founded of the kingdom of Dorne," while Flea Bottom will be set in the notorious King's Landing slum in "the maze of tight streets in the capitol city where characters like Davos Seaworth and Gendry Baratheon were born."

These shows join the potential adaptation of Martin’s Tales of Dunk & Egg novellas, a possible GoT HBO Max animated series.

There's obviously a lot of potential here, but it sounds like these projects are only in the very early stages of development.

@JustAChillFan - Then you really need to read up on the lore.

@SerKurtWagner - I have, the Flea bottom one holds zero interest for me, 10'000 ships is kinda interesting I guess? never really been too interested in how Dorne became their own kingdom, nor the Rhoynar migration. 9 Voyages sounds like a spin off from the show they haven't even made yet, and is kind of a small part of the whole dance anyway.

Tried watching the show, dropped it half way through season 2. Wasnt bad, just wasnt getting what i thought i would.

Also tried Last Kingdom, that just moves way too fast it gets repetitive.

Can we get a spinoff of an alternate reality where the last season was better?

@oldnoname - I really believe there are chances after GGRM writes the ending we'll see a new Season 8 being made.

HBO should really focus on making the next great epic and not hire show-runners who want to call it quits when they get a different project offer. I think Assassin's Creed has potential to be a big epic franchise for HBO. With each season taking place in a different time period with a different Ancestor but keep the "Desmond" of the series the lead and have him portray each Ancestor.

I love that HBO, being as pretentious as ever, is already planning on expanding their GOTShowverse with all of these spin-offs without even the guarantee success of HOTD. Before they start tooting their own horn some more, they should wait to see how HOTD does. The stinging pain of GOT S7 and especially 8 still burns.

@TheLight - They should have confidence in their own ability to make quality content. Not only should there be no reason to wait but if they truly want HBO Max to compete with Disney+ they have to get things in development, Disney announced like 11 Star Wars shows and a similar number of Marvel shows.

@TheLight - If anyone has a right to be pretentious, it’s HBO. The final season of GOT is definitely the outlier in their content.

I still find it fascinating that something so ingrained in pop culture and was talked about every day all over the word for YEARS is barely ever mentioned in passing anymore. I'm only reminded that this franchise exists whenever I see an article about one of these spin-offs, which I have to think most people have next zero interest in.

@RyConn93 - Absolutely. Remember the phenomenon it was?

@RyConn93 - I think it’s the same with Avatar. Of course no one is talking about them regularly. Nothing is coming out. But once the new content arrives the eyeballs will be there.

The Sea Snake one I would watch, since Corlys Velayron is such a great badass character, and I wouldn’t mind seeing the Nymeria show, but a Fleebottom show? Really?

Not sure what they’ll do with that Flea Bottom show, but 9 Voyages and 10,000 ships have HUGE potential. I can’t wait to see them tap into the corners of Martin’s world beyond Westeros.

What makes these spin offs frustrating is all the money should have gone to the 30 episodes to finish off the main series if not for D&D wanting to bail and cutting it to 13. What a waste. They were completely unable to pull it off and it really showed in the pacing
