Marvel Comics And Brian Michael Bendis' SCARLET In Development As A TV Series At Cinemax
The revolution will be televised. Brian Michael Bendis has announced that his Marvel/Icon comic series Scarlet is currently being developed as a TV series at HBO's sister channel, Cinemax...
A small-screen adaptation of Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev's Scarlet is being developed for Cinemax. The creator-owned series is published under Marvel's Icon imprint, and follows the adventures of a young Portland woman named Scarlet Rue, who who rebels against a corrupt society and ends up starting a new American revolution in the process. Like Deadpool, the character often breaks the fourth wall.
Bendis himself made the announcement at the ATX Television Festival in Austin, where he had this to say about the controversial series. “Scarlet is a list of things you can’t get made. Here’s a female lead who’s killing cops because her world is broken.” But, he continued, “when it was sold it was sold to people who were actively looking for that, so that put us in a good place. So stay tuned.”
Scarlet is in the very early stages of development, but expect further announcements soon enough.
