We found out that SNL alum Sasheer Zamata (Home Economics, Moongirl and Devil Dinosaur) had joined the cast of Agatha: Coven of Chaos last year, but no details on her character were provided at the time. Now, her role has been revealed, and we have confirmation that Zamata will be playing an established Marvel Comics magic-wielder.
Zamata will make her MCU debut in the Disney+ series as powerful sorceress Jennifer Kale.
"I definitely did do as much [comic book] research as I could," she tells Mashable in an interview conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike. "But the way we formed this character is very different from what I think people expect."
In the comics, Kale has history with a number of characters, including the likes of Man-Thing (with whom she shares a psychic connection) and Howard the Duck. How she'll be introduced in the upcoming WandaVision spin-off remains to be seen, but there's a chance she will be reimagined as a member of Agatha's coven.
In the same article, it's mentioned that Miles Gutierrez-Riley will be playing Hulkling, but this has been refuted by insider @MyTimeToShine, who believes he will actually be playing a new character named Eddie.
Coven of Chaos will focus on powerful witch Agatha Harkness, who almost managed to defeat the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) in the season finale of WandaVision before being bested and trapped in Westview in her "nosy neighbour Agnes" persona.
Though Olsen is not expected to appear, there's speculation that Wanda might have something to do with Harkness' release and/or reformation following the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Jac Schaeffer, who is under a joint overall deal with Marvel and 20th Television, will serve as writer and executive producer and will also helm multiple episodes along with Gandja Monteiro (Wednesday; The Chi) and Rachel Goldberg (Cloak & Dagger; Mayans M.C.)
