WandaVision spin-off Agatha: Coven of Chaos remains one of Marvel Studios' most intriguing Disney+ TV shows, with rumours swirling that Agatha Harkness will be revealed as LGBTQ+.

There's a lot of chatter surrounding The Witches' Road and Mephisto, but new claims from scooper Daniel Richtman may shed some light on the show's villains. Unsurprisingly, it seems Agatha's dark past will come back to haunt her.

You might recall a flashback in WandaVision showing Agatha killing her mother's coven, and it's said Salem's Seven - "the daughters of the witches from Evanora Harkness' coven" - will return to "[seek] revenge for the murder of their mothers."

This is undeniably intriguing, especially as the group has a history in the comic books. On the page, they're the daughters of Nicholas Scratch, making them Agatha's grandchildren. However, it sounds like the MCU making some big changes to that.

Fingers crossed the characters - who debuted in 1977's Fantastic Four #186 - look this weird...

Very few official plot details have been revealed about Agatha: Coven of Chaos, though we anticipate the series revolving around Agatha tracking down Billy Maximoff who, like his comic book counterpart, has now been "reincarnated" as Billy Kaplan. Mephisto is also expected to appear, possibly played by Sacha Baron Cohen.

The show's supporting cast will feature a number of familiar faces from WandaVision, including Emma Caulfield Ford (Sarah Proctor), Debra Jo Rupp (Sharon Davis), David Payton (John Collins), David Lengel (Harold Proctor), Asif Ali (Abilash Tandon), Amos Glick (Dennis), Brian Brightman (Sheriff Miller), and Kate Forbes (Evanora Harkness).

Other additions include Aubrey Plaza, Joe Locke, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Okwui Okpokwasili, and Maria Dizzia.

Agatha: Coven of Choas is currently expected to premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2024.

@bobevanz - She actually killed that role altogether. But also, her character is attached to a lot of the supernatural side of the Marvel universe. This could very well serve an important purpose for establishing some of that.

@IcePyke - Shocking! Shocking I tell you! This is so revolutionary in this day and age! How bold of this multibillion dollar corporate leviathan! 😜

On another note; I'm not familuar with Salem's Seven, but the chick with the snakes for arms may have just awakened a new fetish for me.
I hate myself for this post.
Thank you for listening to my TED talk.

@Feralwookiee - For all the talk about representation, MCU has, what, four out characters? And only two, Phastos and Korg, have been shown in same-sex relationship. So, yes, if they do make Harkness a lesbian in the show, it would, unfortunately, still be kind of a big deal.

@Feralwookiee - I don't believe that "snakes for arms" qualifies as a form of sexual orientation or gender presentation, but no kink shaming from me, brother. Get weird with your snakey ladies!

Seriously, this is your leading statement? What the [frick] does that have to do with the rumors of the main antagonists? Unless they're LGBTQ+ as well...

The weirdest [frick]ing lead I'd ever read Josh.

This certainly sounds like another D+ show that I (and most of the viewing audience) won’t be watching.

It’s almost as if they are intentionally making this current phase bad to build anticipation for mutants even more.
Vigor

@mountainman - nah they just are following orders and needed content for disney+

This show isn't for the nerds and grown men. Disney plus caters to all ages and groups and genders

@Vigor - They have certainly released a lot more targeted niche content. As someone that used to watch all MCU, it was tough for me to adapt to at first, but I’ve come to accept that I just won’t watch it all.

It’s still likely too early to tell if the strategy will pay off long term. Some of the audience that used to like watching everything has either tuned out completely or is only selectively watching - that results in lower viewer numbers and box office takes. If the new audience exceeds the people that were lost, then it’s a savvy decision.

@mountainman - I agree. It's risky and may not be paying off. I think their leadership sees that. I'm still watching all of it, but every release is not an EVENT in my household like they used to be

While I disagree that most MCU'ers will skip this nonethless the above quoted post is the most succinct and accurate take on this issue I have read to date. My take is that 1) they over did the new female characters and didn't come close to replacing RDJ or CE, 2) they really expanded the types of content a little bit too fast. That's with 20/20 hindsight. YMMV.

I have said it many times, she is a tertiary character no one knows or cares about. We, mcu is about superheroes, doc strange is magic, its been done. I care ZERO about witches or LGBT.. zero...so I will not watch or follow, show will tank amd tank hard and marvel will listen to fans and follow canon. So many better stories to tell about other characters, superheroes stories, than this. Am disgusted with mcu, almost as bad as dc. Echo, bluebeetle, tertiary character no one knows or cares, tank, tank and tank. Listen to fans. Hurricane 🌀 idalia is strong here, hope we don't loose power.

If they actually brought George Perez designed characters (and Agatha's son) in as the villains in a comic accurate way, I would actually watch.

They won't.

Also, Agatha Harkness WITHOUT the Fantastic Four is [frick]ING RETARDED.

@Batmangina - she needs the character development to become slightly less villainous if she's going to eventually play a role in Fantastic 4.

It's amazing how so many of you don't realize that Marvel is casting a wide net and doesn't care if you watch everything. She-Hulk might not be for you but maybe Daredevil is. You might not care about Daredevil at all but are interested in Agatha. You might not care about Agatha but maybe you're interested Werewolf by Night.

Like, my kids had zero interest in werewolf by night, and honestly, it wasn't for them. But Ms. Marvel was clearly for my daughter.

Why does it make some of you so mad that a show that isn't for you exists instead of just moving on with your life and watching something that is for you?
