AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.: Clark Gregg Talks INHUMANS, Possible Movie Reappearance, And More

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Clark Gregg talks here about The Inhumans being introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe via the ABC series, whether he still wants to reunite Agent Director Coulson with The Avengers, seeing himself in the comic books, and more...

The midseason finale of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was huge, with one fan-favourite character killed off and another transformed into a hero we all know from the comic books as Quake. In a recent interview with Comic Book Resources, Clark Gregg - who has played an Agent Coulson obsessed with discovering the meaning of those alien symbols for some time now - was asked how he feels to have seen the Inhumans into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. "I'm excited by it. I think the Inhumans is a big, cool part of the Marvel universe, a great story. And we'll set up something. We'll get to explore it. I'm glad they're entrusting us with it, and I think that they'll take what they're going to do with it, and it will connect. And yet, we'll have the freedom to kind of make our show be our show. I think our show's working better this year because it is what it is. What happens on our show has to work for our show, and if at some point in the future, because they always think of cool stuff, it becomes something that crosses over with the movie, fantastic."

As for how the series has changed since introducing superpowers (something we've obviously caught a glimpse of before now, but not via any of the lead characters), Gregg added: "Hard to say. I don't know yet. We haven't shot enough that I really have a good answer for that. What I like about it is, it's not your typical origin story. All along S.H.I.E.L.D. has kind of been about protecting people from what they don't know about, which often means people who are on the index -- people who have powers because they've been kind of mutated or given powers by technology or Hydra or various alien artifacts. Inhumans represents a different chapter." That they do, and how Skye shakes things up - literally - as Daisy Johnson/Quake should will undoubtedly be very interesting to see play out throughout the second half of the season.

Finally, talk turned to whether or not the actor still hopes to make a return to the big screen after significant appearances in movies like Iron Man, Thor, and The Avengers. Fans too are keen to see Coulson reunited with Earth's Mightiest Heroes are his death at the hands of Loki united them in the 2012 superhero ensemble. "It's funny: the membrane between me and the character is so thin, I really want to explain to the Avengers, that I didn't just lie to them. So I would really like it for that reason, yes. But I'm having an awfully good time where I am." Oh, and how does it feel to see Coulson kicking butt in the pages of Marvel's comic books as the lead in Mark Waid's recently launched S.H.I.E.L.D. series? "Oh, yeah, he has a comic! The variant covers are all over my study."

Keep him on the TV show. His "death" in Avengers carried emotional weight. Having him pop back up on screen with Captain America and Iron Man will kinda take all of that and throw it out of a window.

The "emotional weight" of his death was already thrown out the window when they gave him a series. That being said the show is an entertaining watch.

I think he could help the Civil War come to an end, acting as the inbetween/peacemaker for Cap and IM...think that would be the movie (end of it) to have Coulson reappear and bring the Avengers team back together for Infinity War...

Where did you hear this rumor? It's funny people are saying this for a couple reasons. One, I love The Dark Knight Trilogy, Man of Steel and Watchmen more than any MCU movie. Second, my username has Batman in it! I definitely love DC movies more. I just love Marvel TV a LOT more. Plus, I HATE Arrow and The Flash. Far from a Marvel Troll though.

@EzioKenway1225

Yeah, just watched that this morning! Holy shit, I can't wait for more!

Why are you commenting on my article in this article? Did you bother to read my article, or did you look at the title, scroll down to the part that said "The Avengers", and automatically come back here to say that my article is shit? :)

The second season rocked, I seriously can't wait for The Inhumans....

I agree though, keeping Coulson separate is probably the best thing right now.
