AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Renewed By ABC; AGENT CARTER's Fate Finally Revealed

With just days to go until the two hour season finale, ABC has finally confirmed that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will return for a third run of episodes later this year. Meanwhile, we now also know the fate of Agent Carter. Has it been renewed or cancelled? Well, you can find that out here...

Marvel isn't going anywhere on ABC, as they have today announced that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will return for a third season, and Agent Carter is indeed coming back for a second. The former has average a 1.5 rating among adults, but it's a steady performer for the network and does good numbers with DVR showings. Agent Carter meanwhile also did respectable (if not amazing) numbers earlier this year, but the eight part series gained a loyal fan following, so this surprise renewal should come as welcome news. How the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron and plans for Captain America: Civil War will change Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s third season remains to be seen.

There's currently no official word on the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff and the series focusing on a superhero, but news on those should come soon enough. Are you guys happy that both of these shows are returning? As always, be sure to share your thoughts in the comments section.

I'm very curious what will happen with Jessica Jones. Will it be renewed? I certainly don't see it getting the response DD got. But it's good all of 2015's shows get renewed!

All of this news pleases me. Especially Agent Carter. I'm a sucker for anything history-related, so this was right up my alley.

As for Agents of SHIELD, I always thought the show was at least watchable. But I will admit that there has been a substantial improvement in it this season, given that it is no longer really being held back by the events of Winter Soldier. Excited for the fall.

Holy cow! More AGENT CARTER! ABC/Marvel certainly realize they have a prize in Hayley Atwell, and they're banking on a legacy of quality TV instead of high ratings. Who would have thought that would happen?!

I really loved Agent Carter. With what little they had, the show captured the 1940s-50s beautifully (In a Marvel aesthetic)

Agent Carter was mediocre with a gimmick that grew old after the 2nd episode.

Haha freaking Josh.
"Marvel isn't going anywhere" was instead phrase as "Marvel is going nowhere on ABC". For shits and giggles.

Nice one.

I'm starting to lose interest in Agents of SHIELD. It was an interesting premise for a show, but it just hasn't been executed terribly well. The core trio of Coulson, Skye and May are okay I guess, but they're surrounded by a bland, forgettable supporting cast.

I get the impression that Disney & Marvel had high expectations for the show, but over time they've lost interest, and now they wish it just didn't exist.
