Agents of SHIELD Season 2 Speculation: Agent Fitz Future

Agents of SHIELD Season 2 Speculation: Agent Fitz Future

After Tuesday night's episode of AOS, most of our main character's fate is pretty much confirmed for next season. That is all but one member of the team: Agent Fitz. Will he leave the show? Will he be in season 2? If he is where does he go from here? What will his mental state be? Read more to find out my speculation of what will become of him.

After last night's episode of Agent's of SHIELD there were a few dangling threads but the one I was most concerned about was Agent Fitz role next season. After he made his sacrifice for Simmons he was not on screen the rest of the episode. This could be a good indication that he is either out of the show or not to going to be in the first portion of the new season. I actually believe that he is not just going to be a part of next season but a HUGE part of the storyline. I think his route is going to follow another popular Whedon goofball hero but he is NOT going to walk the line as Wesley Wyndham Price did but fully cross it.

After all, we were told that he will be a changed man.

I believe that he will be in his coma for the first seven episodes of season 2 allowing just enough time for Simmons and Trip to get romantically involved with one another. Fitz comes out of his coma and not only is he a tad brain damaged but the woman he sacrificed himself for is dating another man. We got several hints about this in season 1 and I think it is something they are going to play off of. Obviously Agent Fitz will NOT be happy with this and begin to build resentment not just for Trip but for Simmons who saw his brave act but STILL chose the muscle over  her. For awhile he will attempt to accept the situation but the madness keeps growing. He tries to work with Trip but just ends up trying to sabotage him. While the others try to work with him he gets more rebellious and darker.

Enter the man he so desperately wanted to believe was not evil; enter his friend.

Ward, not redeemed and dead set on turning Skey into a monster due to his LUST for her, is captive and starts whispering in Fitz's ear about their friendship and how they mistreated him; how they went to the ends of the earth to revive Coulson immediately but just left his life in the balance as they went on missions. This will lead Fitz eventually turning on the team and freeing Ward. Grant Ward takes his place as the big bad and takes on Fitz as his right hand man, making him feel a major part of the group.

Together they locate Reina (the flower dress girl ...never was positive of her name), Quinn, and Gravitonn ...and align with Talbot among others in the government. Their goal: end SHIELD before it starts again. Ward is tasked with training them all in the agency's ways and how to combat them. Talbot will label this the Thunderbolts Initiative named after a man who had progressive ideas that no one listened to. Ward is even given the nickname The Taskmaster as Fitz is heralded as a Fixer of sorts as it refers to electronics.  Thus the war against SHIELD begins as it is at its weakest state.

Do you feel this is where the series will go? Do you completely disagree with this speculation? Please voice your opinioin in the comments below.

Pretty good. I like the idea of Ward manipulating Fitz into letting him free. However, I don't think Simmons would get involved with Trip. It'd seem like a really douchie thing to do after your best friend basically proclaims his love to you and saves your life. I think Simmons will wait for Fitz to get better. But other than that, it's a pretty solid theory.

By the way, love the idea of Ward becoming a supervillain. I'm not 100% sure it'd be suitable for him to be Taskmaster, but I'm not opposed to the idea. The introduction of the Thunderbolts would be cool, too.

That general plays a general in almost every single movie. First Class, Transformers, etc.

i like it. fun plan. there were a few moments in the finale that made it see like ward noticed he may be in over his head, so i'm not positive that he'll end up completely evil. but i like the idea of fitz switching sides and maybe giving the team a more cerebral villain in The Fixer. could be interesting and i hope they go that route

I think Fitz is going to become more of like Oracle, a behind the desk/stay on the bus type guy. I feel like they will make him lose the use of some motor function and he'll be the Intel guy for the team.

Having a teammate become a villain is something they did already. It shouldn't turn into a thing where every season another ally switches sides.

A big part of a show maintaining a certain amount of freshness is not being repetitive. Most writers are really aware of that, so if for no other reason, I would expect Fitz to remain on the good side.

If they were going to have him come back like normal, they would have done so in the finale. There is definitely something in store for him.

I dunno, AOS has kinda crappy payoffs for cliffhangers at times. Like ending with several extremis soldiers and the Asgard staff guy surrounding them, but that crisis was dealt with pretty expeditiously in the following episode. So time will tell on how serious his condition really is.

I like your ideas man.. I think though that Fitz won't turn completely evil. Probably get used by Ward a whole lot and set off a chain of events before turning good again realising its too late, he's already set things in motion.

I wouldn't mind it but I don't think this is going to happen. I think Fitz is everyone's favorite so I think he'll have amnesia, and maybe a slight personality change. He needs to be important to the group so I think he'll be more "baddass" maybe he has less inhibitions and maybe is more of a risk taker. Remember him crying under a table. I think that Fitz is long gone. But I think he'll have amnesia and when he does regain his memories and remember his feelings for Simmons she will be with Tripp and it will be too late and that love triangle will take about 4 seasons to sort out.

Interesting. I don't see him joining Ward though. Ward is the one who threatened the life of the woman he loved, put him in the situation where he suffered brain damage and almost died. Having that happen after Fitz believed in him is going to hurt a lot, and he's probably going to hate Ward for it.

As for the love triangle with Fitz, Simmons, and Trip, I do think there will be tension, but we've already seen Fitz attempting to sabotage Trip. They got to a point where they bonded and he accepted him as a friend. I think Fitz will be a very different person who is probably more of a loner, breaking up the cute little friend pair.

Also does anyone know if they will do comics to tied us over until the premier? I think it would be awesome if they did a Deathlok killing Hydra members during the season with maybe dream sequences of Fitz while in a coma.
