EDITORIAL: Five Characters that should be introduced in Marvels 'Agents of SHIELD'

Now that the show has been on the air for some time, I thought I'd repost this list to see if it is still relevant!

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D has had a mixed reaction yet it is continually improving. before the show aired I produced a list of characters that could apperar, what do you think now the show is in full swing. Here is a list of characters that I believe should feature:

5. Daisy Johnson aka Quake.

Debuting in July 2004 in Secret War #2 Daisy Johnson is a member of SHIELD whose powers allow her to create earthquake like shocks. Although Agents of Shield has many original characters, there are very few characters we are familiar with albeit Agent Phil Coulson. Daisy would be a good candidate to join the show even just for an episode to show her powerful abilities on screen. She could be a SHIELD agent although not directly involved with agent Coulson’s sub team; she could assist them in taking down harmful threats, as the team do not have powers. I think Quake would make for a good recurring character and possibly feature as a background character in future Marvel movies even using her powers in the final avengers film to take down Thanos, much like she aided the Avengers in the final episode of Avengers EMH to battle Galactus.

4. Eric O’Grady.

Known to most as the third person to use the Ant Man identity, Eric is a SHIELD agent with very few morals. In the comics, he finds the Ant Man suit and uses it for his own selfish reasons. The character is devious and unethical and that could be his premise in the show. While having him dawn the Ant Man suit is highly unlikely, Eric could appear as a rock bottom SHIELD agent who uses SHIELD tech for his own devices such as stealing. This results in him getting caught up in all kinds of trouble similar to the second Ant Man and leading criminals and maybe gang bosses into the SHIELD building to obtain files and information on the world most secretive organization which would affect Coulson’s team as they try and track down the source of the problem .Eric ends his episode realising the error of his ways and then goes out to make a difference like his comic book counterpart. Having Eric appear is far more likely than having Pym and Lang show up as they are both rumoured to be part of the 2015Edgar Wright movie. Eric’s appearance would please fans as well as dropping hints to Ant Mans existence.

3. Tony Masters aka Taskmaster.

Tony Masters is a villain and a foe of the Avengers. On the show, he could be seen initially as a trainer to the SHIELD agents and could be shown training Ming-Na Wen’s Agent Melinda May who from the promo, we know can fight. He is able to mimic peoples fighting style move for move. He could be an inside source to any rogue and supply them with information from the shows main team. The team are unaware how this is all getting out and when he is revealed as a mole, him and Agent May could get involved in an all out fight that would translate spectacularly onto the small screen. With Eric O’Grady and Tony Masters as a way into SHIELD, they could feature working for a primary nemesis who is revealed in the seasons finale.

2. The Wrecking Crew

The Wrecking Crew are a team of super villains and a primary foe of Thor. The crew consist of leader, Wrecker, he possesses a magical crow bar which grants him abilities including energy projection and force field generation. This would tie the show nicely into the MCU by having the magical element as his crow bar became powered by accident by a spell meant for Loki. The show could mention his magic stems from another world and that he is not the first being to have a magical weapon. Thunderball is the brains of the team and uses a large ball and chain as his weapon. Piledriver fights with his powerful fists and finally Bulldozer, he charges at his enemies wearing a metal helmet. The Wrecking Crew would be perfect additions to the show and could really cause some havoc following the rebuilding of the damage created in The Avengers. They could be used to incorporate the MCU into the show and provide a formidable match for Coulson’s team, as they have to stop them destroying the city as it has experienced enough chaos recently.

1. Barbara Morse aka Mockingbird.

Mockingbird would be the ideal character to appear in the show. She could serve as a high up member of SHIELD monitoring the team on behalf of Nick Fury. The show could reference that she used to be a driver but was recently promoted following two major agents having other priorities, recognising the MCU. For readers who do not know, Mockingbird is a SHIELD agent and her origin in Avengers EMH could work well in the show. She was the driver to Hawkeye and Black Widow on missions before becoming a fully-fledged agent following their departures. She is a peak athlete and gymnast and fights with a bo-staff. Her presence in the show could explain for Hawkeye and Black Widows SHIELD absence. She could become a guest character in Agents of SHIELD showing to train the agents and be reporting to Fury. Her introduction into the show would make sense following Jeph Loeb announce at comic con a TV show based around the character was in the works although no official word or update has been given since.

Thank you for reading my first ever article and do you agree with my choices or who would you like to feature in the show, please leave any suggestion and critique in the comment box.

Ummmm.......you keep talking about all the people either being Shield agents or trying to infiltrate Shield or, in the case of Mockingbird, monitoring the team for Fury. Where exactly have you been the past 3 weeks? Shield is pretty much gone, all their secrets were released on the internet by Black Widow, May was already monitoring them for Fury (so much for Mockingbird), there have been lots and lots of references to the MCU and Black Widow and so on. A lot of people on here seem to think Ward could end up being Taskmaster (not sure I agree, but still.) And Ward and Garrett and Hydra have already stole a lot of the tech, so there goes your idea for Grady. This article would have made sense at the start of the season, but we already know that most of what you wrote will not happen. Some of these characters might be cool, but you need to seriously rethink these scenarios.

Other than Mockingbird and Task Master i can see the rest popping up at some point as ex-shield members or members of the now super secret shield. I think Ward could be O'Grady, starts out bad, becomes good. But I think O'Grady without the Ant-Man suit could definitely make an appearance. He fits what they do. But remember they use the name and look but greatly change the character.
