First AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 6 Trailer Released, But Is Agent Coulson Alive...Or Dead?

The first trailer for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season six has been released ahead of its return later this year, and it sheds some light both on Agent Coulson's status and the new threat the team will face!

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns later this year for a shorter sixth season but just how much of a role will Clark Gregg's Agent Coulson play? Well, while it initially sounds as if he's definitely dead and only sticking around as a holograph, the end of this teaser points to him being out there still very much alive!

Beyond that, we get zero references to the events of Avengers: Infinity War aside from the fact that it appears as if Earth is coming under attack from a number of different alien races. 

Fitz, meanwhile, is still somewhere out there in space and it seems like the team will be working hard to bring him back as Mack comes to terms with being S.H.I.E.L.D.'s new Director. Despite endless cancellation rumours, we know that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has at least two more seasons left on ABC but with Coulson set to appear in Captain Marvel, that could renew interest in the show.

Holy [frick]ing shit!!! The best comic book show returns with one hell of a teaser!!!

Not only was this a surprise release, but what a trailer. The emotional impact on everyone and the show itself with Coulson being dead, that was conveyed very well. The hologram was a very nice touch. But what is going on with Coulson at the end, some alternate timeline version? I wonder if that will be saved for the finale.

It looks like they continue to go all out and raise the bar with this show. The space scenes, wow! The aesthetics look stellar. Wonder how fast we will be meeting up with Cryo Fitz and Enoch.

The visuals continue to look great, the action looks great. Its more from what we've come to expect from this show! Can't freaking wait.

@HeavyMetal4Life - i feel like if that was for the finale, there is no way they would show it in the first trailer, months out from the premiere of the season. unless you mean the answer to how he is back but they are usually pretty good about giving people answers quickly.

@lemric - well either they don't refer to him as Coulson, which would line up with the article I put out yesterday saying they refer to Phil in the past tense. Or they have gone to extreme measures to lie about his return.

Maybe it´s the same budget but just 10-12 eps.
Less episodes but more quality.

@lvcl - could very well be the case that they now have more budget per episode. But struggling with the budget has never been an issue with SHIELD. This show is second to none when it comes to making the most with the resources you have.

I’m guessing that the Coulson seen here will be a Skrull messing with them... The season comes after the release of Captain Marvel, and with them in space? Surely there will be Skrulls.

Looks like mercenaries from other galaxies are the antagonists.

"Coulson" must be a new case of doppelganger or someone using his face, unless they have something left to say about his character that hasn't wrapped up yet after last year and without lessening his ending.
