Earlier this month, we learned that Marvel Studios has scrapped Daredevil: Born Again in its current iteration. Now, the plan is to essentially start from scratch with a new creative team and while some scenes will remain, it appears an awful lot is going to be left on the cutting room floor.
Shortly after the news broke, Kingpin actor Vincent D'Onofrio took to Twitter/X to cast doubt on the reports, insisting it wasn't "big news" and that "every cool project I've been involved with has evolved constantly during pre-production, production and post...a bunch of creatives [are] doing their best to get it right."
Some fans weren't buying it and the actor later made it clear, "We are going to bring forward the best series we can. One we can be proud of." However, the endless questions and negativity may have finally gotten the better of the Hawkeye star.
In a now-deleted post (as a result of his entire account being taken down), D'Onofrio announced his departure from social media.
"So everyone I'm going to leave X. I'm going to leave very soon. To my amazing and loyal followers: You know I have been contemplating this for a long while. Today is the day. I leave you for now with much love to you all."
"Don't think I'm going to be spending any time on any platform. Feeling like leaving Instagram today as well. I'll come back soon or maybe later. I don't know. Maybe with a brand new account."
He signed off with a short poem and despite not mentioning Daredevil: Born Again, we'd guess this was the straw which broke the camel's back for the actor. It should by no means be taken as a sign he's leaving the series or anything as extreme as that; he's simply had enough of social media, a sentiment we're sure many of you can relate to.
It's a shame, though, because D'Onofrio's presence online has always been fun, whether it's sharing his desire to take on Spider-Man as Wilson Fisk or his always-entertaining stories and anecdotes.
The actor is expected to play a big role in the MCU moving forward, appearing in Echo and Daredevil: Born Again before potentially making the leap to the big screen in Spider-Man 4. A part in the latter could hinge on exactly how much the Man Without Fear's Disney+ series changes, though.
Stay tuned for updates.
