Though Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner is expected to make a full recovery following his terrifying snowplow accident over the Holidays (more details here), recent reports have indicated that it might be a very long time before the actor is back on his feet.
While that may still be the case, we now have a slightly more positive update from one of Renner's Marvel Cinematic Universe co-stars.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania actress Evangeline Lilly, who first worked with Renner on The Hurt Locker, paid a visit to her friend's house to find out how he's feeling, and was pleasantly surprised to see how mobile he was.
"I was just at Jeremy’s house the other night, and he was in a wheelchair," Lilly tells Access Hollywood. "I walked in his house and I was like why are you mobile? What is happening? I expected to sit at his bedside and hold his hand while he moaned and groaned in pain and wasn’t able to move. He was wheeling himself around, laughing with his friends."
"He’s made of something really tough, that guy, and you’ve always been able to see that in him," she continued. "He had a near-death experience that was highly traumatic, and he was awake for the whole thing. It really has stuck with me. He’s got a journey to go through now. That’s what nightmares are made out of and he lived through it, and he’s on the other side now. He is recovering incredibly, and I’m so grateful."
Lilly is obviously not a doctor (nor does she play one on TV), but it's still great to hear that Renner was in such high spirits.
It's probably going to be quite a while before he's ready to get back to firing arrows at bad guys in the MCU, but we're sending him our best and hoping to see him return as Clint Barton before too long.
